REGISTRATION PROCEDURE for non-EU citizens

In accordance with the Methodology of admitting foreign citizens from EU third countries for
studies and schooling in accredited state and private Romanian educational institutions (starting
with the academic year 2013 2014), all applications for admission to study at Alexandru Ioan Cuza
University of Iai have to comply with the following:

Files should be submitted within the established deadlines;


The processing fee of 100 Euros is to be transferred to the bank account below:

Please mention your name as well as the text tax de procesare dosar (file processing
fee).

The eligibility check of the file will be performed by the Department of International
Relations;
Each faculty committee will then analyze and accept/reject the files;
For the select candidates, the Department of International Relations will request the Letter of
Acceptance from the Ministry of National Education;
The next step for admitted students, after receiving the Letter of Acceptance, is to pay the
tuition fees in order to get the study visa from the Romanian Embassy in their country.

Language Requirements
For the candidates who want to study in Romanian, a Romanian Language Certificate is required.
Candidates who can prove that they have attended at least 4 years of study in Romanian do not need
such a certificate.
If a candidate can speak Romanian but does not have a Romanian Language Certificate, he/she must
obtain it following an exam.
If a candidate cannot speak Romanian, he/she must attend the courses of the Preparatory Year.
During the first semester of the Preparatory Year, students will study Romanian as a foreign language
while during the second semester, they will study the Romanian vocabulary specific for the faculty
fields where they will continue their studies: technical, mathematics, medicine, economy, law,
humanists, agronomy, etc.
If the candidate wishes to study in a foreign languages, he/she has to choose from a number of
specializations both at Bachelor and at Master level that are taught in English, French etc. (please refer

Undergraduate studies / Bachelor (3 years) &


Postgraduate Studies: Master (2 years)
The application file must contain the following documents (certified / authorised translations into
English):
1. 2 Application forms filled in, with photo;
2. Authenticated copy of the certificate of studies:
High School Graduation Diploma (for Bachelor studies);
Graduation Diploma (University BA Degree) for Master studies;
Transcript of Records / Diploma Supplement;
3. Authenticated copy of the birth certificate;
4. Authenticated copy of the passport;
5. Medical certificate;
6. The list of result of the completed study years (Academic Transcripts) for those
wishing to continue studies begun in other countries.

Postgraduate Studies, Doctorate (3 years)


Documents required:
1. 2 Application forms filled in, with photo;
2. Written consent from a potential doctoral supervisor;
3. Birth Certificate, authenticated copy;
4. Marriage Certificate or any document that show the name change, authenticated
copy;
5. High School Graduation Diploma (Baccalaureate) original or authenticated copy;
6. Graduation Diploma (University Degree), original or authenticated copy;
7. Transcript of Records / Diploma Supplement, authenticated copy;
8. Postgraduate Diploma (Master Degree), authenticated copy;
9. Language Certificate;
10. Curriculum vitae;
11. List of published scientific papers.
In order to be accepted to studies, candidates for a doctoral degree will have to pass the
examination organized each year in September. In order to prepare for it, they must keep in
touch with the potential doctoral supervisors who agreed to give them a written consent.

Above fees are subject to change at the beginning of each academic year.
Accepted candidates are requested to register before October 1st, the official opening date of the
academic year.
Upon arrival in Romania, accepted candidates will have to be present in person for registration at
Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, having the following documents:
1. the Letter of Acceptance;
2. Original of the final certificate of studies. Those who apply for Ph. D. studies or for
recognition of partial studies have to annex authorized copies of the correspondent
curricula and syllabuses as well;
3. Authorized translation of the final certificate of studies certified by a Romanian
Embassy;
4. Certificate of birth (authorized translation);
5. Medical certificate;
6. Passport having the specific visa for studies in Romania.
