Belceti Students Council

Counducted activities

1. Save a book!
Promoting reading among youth is part of our mission as
Students Council. Our schools library is relatively small
compared to libraries from other teaching institutions. Every
student has the right to have permanent access to information,
but getting the necessary funds for renewing our library was
and still is difficult. And this way we came up with the idea of
reconditioning the used books.
The first stage of our project consisted in gathering a team of
volunteers and the necessary materials. Then we had to set a
timetable for when the volunteers should come to library
without disturbing the daily activity. On each reconditioned
book we applied a sticker with the name of the project and its
logo.
During the entire month of April, between and after classes, our
team successfully reconditioned all the most read and
necessary for exams books by the students.
The main objectives of this project were promoting reading and
volunteering among youth, training students into finding
alternatives if they are in a situation which needs solving and
training them to work together.
2. Letters to Santa Clause!
In December, as Christmas was close, we decided to celebrate
it by us becoming Santa Clause for younger children whose
wishes arent usually fulfilled. For a week, we asked young
children to write letters to Santa Clause. Even though their
wishes did not become true in the last years, they still had the
same enthusiasm, hoping that maybe this years they will come
true.
After gathering all the letters, randomly, each team of two
volunteers chose a letter and started buying everything that
was on the list. Because most of them werent used to
receiving things like video games, tablets or electronic toys,
they didnt ask for much: a chocolate, fruits, a doll, pencils,
gloves etc. But we thought they deserve more. In addition, in

every gift, each pair of volunteers wrote a letter as a letter from

Santa Clause, in order to keep their belief.
In the week before Christmas, we went to their school with the
schools choir and sang Christmas Carols for them. Then we
shared the gifts, maintaining our anonymity.
At the end of the day and in the following days, we received a
positive feedback from our volunteers and requests from them
to involve in more activities.
Volunteering is extremely important in the personal
development of an individual and that is why promoting its
importance became one of our main goals.
3. CRAI Summer School
Two years ago, we conducted the first summer school in our
high school, continuing last year with the second edition. We
started this project with the purpose of helping the students
integrate and see the school through a different perspective.
For an entire week we conducted team-building exercises,
brainstorming, sport activities and workshops for singing,
chess, playing the guitar etc. The participants could establish a
better connection with their teachers by participating in
activities like the ones described previously. The activities that
had priority were the artistical one and teambuilding because
its vital to help the students develop hobbies and train them
to work as a team. By allowing participants with different ages,
they had the opportunity to make new friends, learn about
what is expected from them in the future and get to know
themselves better.
