Ms.

Cabs policies:
Cell Phones: Cell phones are not permitted for use unless
permission is given. This includes listening to music! If I see a
phone being used, you will have one warning and then any
points for the day will be lost as well as the phone being taken
away and placed into phone jail (a secured box placed on Ms.
Pitts desk) to be picked up at the end of the period. If phone use continues to be a problem
further action will be taken.
Late Work: Work is to be done and turned in on time. Late work will face half of a letter grade
deduction for each day that it is late, and late work may only be submitted up to three days after
the original due date. Anything submitted thereafter will only earn a 50%.
Make-up Work: If you miss a day of class, you may make up missed work; however, it is your
responsibility to obtain what you need in order to complete the work.
Quiz Policy: As we read through Frankenstein, you will be given reading quizzes for reading
accountability. You will know when you will have a quiz well ahead of time, and because of this I
will only allow you to make up one missed quiz. If you anticipate being absent, make
arrangements with me prior to missing a quiz.
Plagiarism: Plagiarism is not allowed and comes with serious consequences. Such
consequences include but are not limited to: an automatic zero on the assignment, a call home,
a change in your Final Grade, and a call to the office.
Classroom expectations: In our classroom, it is expected that we treat one another with
respect. I expect that you come prepared each day for class. This means having the book or
workbook that we are covering and a pen/pencil for the day. Also, if there is anything you are
struggling with, or even something you really feel is helping you, please come talk to me!

Units to be covered:
~StudySync(workbooks provided)
~Frankenstein(book provided though students may purchase their own copy)
~Pride and Prejudice (Outside reading with literature circles and tests in class; book provided)

Dear parent/guardian(s),
My name is Chelsey Cabarrubias, and I am Ms. Pitts student teacher for your childs AP
English class. I am currently a teaching credential candidate at Sacramento State, and this
semester I am fully taking over for Ms. Pitts by becoming the head teacher in her 3rd period AP
Class. However, you should be aware that Ms. Pitts will be in the classroom the entire time to
observe my teaching and will be informed ahead of time on the lessons planned for that day. I
have many years of experience with the english subject. I earned my BA in English from the
University of California at Davis, am a certified AVID tutor and have a few years experience
working alongside other english teachers within their classrooms. I also have days planned
throughout the semester to help prepare students for the AP Exam. Attached to this letter, you
will find my policies and expectations, as well as what we will cover this semester. These
expectations are to ensure a positive and productive semester. To verify that both the guardian
and the student are aware of the classroom policies, please read them over and sign below.
I look forward to a successful and fun semester for the seniors and am so excited to be a part of
their educational experience! Go Tigers!
Thank you,
Chelsey Cabarrubias
