4.Molars
2.What is teeth decay?
1.When we eat food,if tiny particles of food are left between, they invite bacteria
that change sugar into an acid.
2.The acid dissolves the enamel of the teeth and causes a small hole called cavity
that leads to tooth decay.
3.How should you take care of your teeth?
To take care of our teeth we must follow the following:
1.Teeth should be cleaned properly after every meal
2.Avoid having food containing sugar.
3.Get the teeth checked by a dentist regularly.
Brush your teeth in the morning and night.
4.Explain the structure of a tooth.
Tooth has a crown and a root..The part above the gum is the gum and the part in
the gum is the root.
2.The tooth is made up of a tough dentine which is covered by enamel in the
crown.
5.How are teeth useful to us ?
1.We use our teeth to chew food to digest well.
2.Teeth give shape to our face and help us to speak properly.

6.What are microbes?

Microbes are tiny living micro organisms. Some microbes are useful to us while
some are harmful.
There are four kinds of microbes:
They are bacteria,fungi,protogoa and virus.
7.How are some microbes useful to us?
1.Some bacteria change milk into curd.
2.Some bacteria convert dead plants and animals into manure.
3.A fungus called yeast is used to make bread soft and spongy.
4.Some bacteria also help in digestion.

Fill in the blanks:

1.The part above the gum is called the _________.
2.A tooth is made up of hard substance called ___________.
3.___________ and ______________ are the permanent teeth at the back of the jaws.
4. ____________ is a fungus that is used to make bread soft and spongy.
5.The___________ dissolves the enamel of the tooth and makes a cavity.
6.There are ______ ___________ next to the incisors in each jaw.
7.A child has a set of ____________ teeth at the age of two and of years.
8.A human adult has ______________________ teeth.
9._______________ is the hardest substance in the body.
10.Malaria and amoebic dysentery are caused by protozoa.
11.Molars help in_____________ the food.
12.Acavity in the tooth is caused by __________ given off by bacteria.
13.We study microbes with the help of _________.
Write a short note on :
1.Enamel:The outermost hardest substance of a tooth,it covers the dentine.
2.Virus: These are very minute organisms. They cause diseases like
flu,measles,commoncold and polio.
3.Fungus:These are plant like organisms. Some of them attack skin and cause
diseases like ringworm.

6.How will you show that hot air is lighter than cool air?(Give an experiment)
Aim:To show that hot air is lighter than cool air.
Apparatus:Aruler,acandle,two paper bags,a thread and a ruler.
Procedure:Tie two paper bags at the ends of a ruler.
Hang them by a thread so that the bags are balanced on either side of the ruler.
Light a candle under one of the bags.
Observation:The end of the ruler with the candle underneath the bag moves up.
Conclusion:This happens because the air inside it gets hot and light and rises up.
