The 2010 BET Awards Welcomes Newark-based EduCampaign

Newark-based Against All Odds Foundation and their campaign ‘I Am Against All Odds’ will attend the
2010 BET Awards with the support of the event’s A-List Celebrities, such as artist Chrisette Michelle.

Newark, NJ, 6/23/2010 - Christine Carter-Davis, Founder/ Director of the Against All Odds Foundation
knows adversity. She also recognizes that her education has saved her from a life of crime, prostitution and
drugs. ‘I Am Against All Odds’ personifies her struggle and the daily struggle of millions of children in urban
areas.

What? In partnership with President Obama’s ‘Race to The Top High School Commencement Challenge,’
Promise Neighborhoods initiative and ‘Get Schooled’ Educational Reform Campaign, #I AM Against All
Odds’ will join a national call to action to improve the educational standards and outcomes for children in
underserved communities throughout New Jersey and across the country.

Why? Because We Must Conquer the Crisis! Every day seven thousand students walk out on their
education. Every 26 seconds a student drops out of high school. One-third of all students fail to graduate
high school. Most low-income students who start college never finish... The leader of this New Jersey
movement knows all too well the staggering statistical odds minority children face.
Christine Carter-Davis the daughter of teen parents ravaged by drug addiction, prostitution and crime, both
lost their battle with drugs and died from AIDS. Christine would endure years of neglect, physical, sexual &
emotional abuse, homelessness and academic failure. The little girl from the projects who was once used
as a drug mule at the age of 6, inept and expected to fail --- Today personifies beating the odds! Christine
Carter-Davis not only graduated from high school but went on to earn her undergraduate degree in Social
Work Suma Cum Laude from Norfolk State University, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, and
an extensive post-graduate education. The culmination of a fine education, an unmarked determination and
at the age of 24, she would launch the Against All Odds Foundation, a leading NJ nonprofit educational and
social service agency focused one on goal: To provide children with every resource and opportunity to
succeed Against All Odds!

How? Through an aggressive multimedia, social media and ad campaign that amplifies the mantra, 'I Am
Against All Odds!’ Our 5 second PSAs showcase champions who have inarguably 'beaten the odds,' from
celebrities to community leaders, entrepreneurs, public officials, clergy and more. They have boldly decided
