Resolutions
Your ideas and solutions about the problems

raised in the committee!

the conference!

However, you can come with written ideas for

action

Resolutions
The Dais will select TWO resolutions from the conference

to be debated
You should think creatively AND realistically

Resolutions
Sponsors: The principal authors of a resolution
Signatories: Delegations that wish to see the resolution

debated in the committee; may or may not agree with

resolution
**At least 20% of the committee must be a sponsor or a
signatory of a draft resolution in order for it to be
brought to a vote.

Resolutions - Preambulatory Clauses

Purpose: describe the problem that the committee

is trying to address - The WHY section.

One long sentence = no periods, only commas!

Resolutions - Preambulatory Clauses

etc

Resolutions - Operative Clauses

recommendations made in a resolution. The TO

Points of Inquiry?

Moderated Caucus Also Known as Four Corners

1. The best way to reduce youth violence and crime is to

improve education systems.

2. The best way to reduce youth violence is to reduce
poverty throughout the world.
3. The best way to reduce youth violence is to
somehow stop the wars that are happening throughout
the world.

Moderated Caucus Also Known as Four Corners

1. Wealthier and more developed countries

(Germany, Iceland, Switzerland, etc.) should send

their armies (UN peacekeepers) into countries
where there are child soldiers to rescue thse
soldiers from the armies that have recruited them.
The wealthy countries should NOT ask for anything
in exchange (for example, money).

Moderated Caucus Also Known as Four Corners

3. Developed (USA, Switzerland, Germany, Iceland,

etc.) countries should pay their doctors more to work in

clinics for children in developing countries (Mali,
Honduras, Venezuela, etc.) than they pay doctors to
work in their own countries, because when children are
healthy, they are more likely to stay in school.

Moderated Caucus Also Known as Four Corners

3. A class in schools around the world that teaches

children about the causes and effects of youth violence

is an effective way to prevent youth violence. This class
would be funded by regional and federal governments,
UNICEF would contribute a certain amount of money
to the program, based on each countrys GDP in
relation to the size of its population.
