National Review 68.19 (2016): 21-24. Academic Search Complete. Web. 24 Oct. 2016.
This source discusses the Hillary Clinton case involving private emails of
information that should not have been released. James B. Comey the director of the
Federal Bureau of Investigation pleads against the prosecution of Hillary Clinton over
her email scandal. The Justice Department never chose to indict the secretary of state
because if they did so that would come to the conclusion that President Obama also
engaged in such a careless matter with the classified information. Obama defending
Clinton and telling the justice system that she can not be prosecuted. The FBI has
specific duties requiring them to gather evidence and proof defined by the Congress.
The justice systems duty is to defend the statutes of a case, not ignore them. Comey
rewrote her criminal statute to give her more protection as a criminal. The justice
department tells judges not to fall into this act and that is exactly what Comey decided
to do. Clinton was given a different standard of justice, than a normal criminal would
have been given. She had the advantage of being the Secretary of state and a friend to
the president. This was an example of a case given to show what the FBI and the
Justice Department has to go through.
This article is relevant to my topic of inquiry because it shows what I might have
to deal with in my line of work. It also helps me realize and think about the things that I
can do to help my community. Knowing that I am helping my community by bringing
criminals off the street can help me realize that my life has meaning and that I am
making a difference within my surroundings. Within this article I do not believe that
Clinton should not have been let free for this action. She committed a crime and should
have be apprehended for her actions. I dont agree that Comey made a good decision in
going against what the justice department has told him. I believe that as a member of
the future justice department that I can make a difference in what happens within cases
like this. Even if I do not make it all the way to the FBI I will still be able to make a
difference within some cases maybe smaller than this one.
I can help prove that this article is credible because it was written by Andrew C.
McCarthy. He is a columnist for the National Review, served Assistant United States
Attorney for the Southern District of New York. He is most recognized for the
prosecution of terrorists of the bombing of the World Trade Center. He was educated at
Columbia College and New York Law School. He is a senior fellow at the Foundation for

Counterterrorism. He writes for the National Review and Commentary. He resigned from
the Justice Department in 2003.
