theworld.Thisusefulinformationrangesfromthemagnitudeoftheearthquake,toitsdateand
time.
2.ELABORATEontheconcept:explainfullywhycertainareas(locations)haveamuch
highernumberofearthquakesthanothers.

certainnationsliealongboundariesoftectonicplates.Thedistributionoftheseearthquakesis
commonlyassociatedtothemarginsoftheglobalplates.

almosteveryyear,andamagnitude8orgreaterearthquakeonaverageevery14years.
Worldwide,Indonesiaisinaveryactiveseismiczone,andcomparedtoothercountrieswitha
largenumberofearthquakessuchasJapan,forinstance,byvirtueofIndonesiaslargersize,it
hasmoretotalearthquakes.

Catamarca,Argentina.ItsmagnitudewasM.5,withadepthof152km.Ithadnohumanitarian
consequencesduetoitsgeographicallocationawayfromanysignificantpopulation.TheSouth
Americanarcextendsover7,000km,fromtheChileanmargintriplejunctionoffshoreof
southernChiletoitsintersectionwiththePanamafracturezone,offshoreofthesoutherncoastof
PanamainCentralAmerica.ItmarkstheplateboundarybetweenthesubductingNazcaplateand
theSouthAmericaplate,wheretheoceaniccrustandlithosphereoftheNazcaplatebegintheir
descentintothemantlebeneathSouthAmerica.Theconvergenceassociatedwiththissubduction
processisresponsiblefortheupliftoftheAndesMountains,andfortheactivevolcanicchain
presentalongmuchofthisdeformationfront.RelativetoafixedSouthAmericaplate,theNazca
platemovesslightlynorthofeastwardsataratevaryingfromapproximately80mm/yrinthe
