Whereas, Dr. James Merrill has demonstrated excellent performance es

Whereas, the Contract between Dr. Merrill and the Wake County Board
(of ducation (Board) includes the option of a raise and performance-basa
compensation;
Whereas, the Board extended Dr. Meril's contract following the 201:
11 school year but has not voted to increase his annual aggregate salary to date
Whereas, in recognition of Dr. Mertil's sound leadership, the Board
believes it is the bes interest of the Wake County Schools for purposes of
retention, stability, and other important factors, 10 provide Dr. Merl
