Imam Ali vs. Gnostic Jesus feat.

Sophia Perennis

The Messenger of Allah called me and said, O Ali! Verily, there is a similarity
between you and Jesus the son of Mary.
John the son of Zachariah cried and did not laugh, and Jesus the son of Mary laughed
and cried; and what Jesus did was more excellent than what John did.

Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib

Cousin and Son-in-Law of Muhammad
[ Imam Ali (A.S.) and Jesus Christ (A.S.), Imam Reza Network, transl. Sayyid 'Abbas Husayni, Muhammad
Legenhausen & Muntazir Qa'im, commentary by Muhammad Legenhausen. Second quotation cites Kitab al-
Kafi, vol. 2. Article online at http://www.imamreza.net/eng/imamreza.php?id=803 ]

God possesses a drink which is reserved for His intimate friends;

when they drink they become intoxicated,
when they become intoxicated they become joyful,
when they become joyful they become cleansed,
when they become cleansed they begin to melt,
when they melt they become pure,
when they become pure they seek,
when they seek they find,
when they find they connect,
when they connect they unite
and when they unite there is no difference between them and their Beloved.

Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib

Jesus said,
Because you have drunk, you have become intoxicated
from the bubbling spring that I have tended.
You are children of the living father.
Why do you wash the outside of the cup?
Dont you understand that the one who made the inside
Is also the one who made the outside?
Whoever is near me is near the fire. There is light
Within a person of light, and it shines on the whole world.
Those who seek should not stop looking until they find.
When they find, they will be disturbed.
When they are disturbed, they will marvel, and will reign over all.
Whoever drinks from my mouth will become like me;
I myself shall become that person.
