function of feed pump in a boiler is to feed water to boiler. Two type of
feed pumps are generally used in boilers-positive displacement type and
centrifugal type.in some pumps special device or accessory is used to
keep the water at saturation pressure and release over pressure.

The feed pump raises the feedwater to a pressure high enough for it to
enter the boiler. For auxiliary boilers, where small amounts of feedwater
are pumped, a steam-driven reciprocating positive displacement pump
may be used. Another type of feed pump often used on package boiler
installations is known as an 'electro feeder'. This is a multi-stage
centrifugal pump driven by a constant speed electric motor. The number
of stages is determined by the feed quantity and discharge pressure.

Hi ,
Basic function of Boiler feed water pump is to produce suf cient amount
of pressure required to turbine inlet with added amount of pressure drop
of ow path of boiler components.
Pressure required to develop through bfp = Turbine inlet pressure +
Pressure drop of boiler components
and also its a prime important in case of develop more than saturation
pressure in case of supercritical boiler segments concerned
