LEADERS OF THE KINGS COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY

ENDORSE PETER CIPRIANO AT THE SEERGY CLUBS GENERAL MEETING

Brooklyn, N.Y. (May 27, 2010) At a general meeting of the Edmund G. Seergy Republican
Club, Republican District Leaders from the 45th, 46th, 47th, 48th and 60th Assembly Districts
announced their endorsement of Peter Cipriano, for State Assembly in the 49th AD.

The endorsement from the Republican leaders in southwest Brooklyn for Cipriano over Lucretia
Regina-Potter, who unsuccessfully ran for this seat in 2008 and 2006 against Democratic
incumbent Peter Abbate, comes after the Kings County Executive Committee voted
overwhelmingly last week not to give her the Partys endorsement. We have come together in
support of Peter Cipriano because he embodies the spirit of our community and will provide
fresh leadership and renewed optimism for both our party and Brooklyn they stated, in a letter
to Chairman Craig Eaton.

Cipriano accepted the endorsement and thanked the leaders and members of the Seergy Club for
their support. I am running as part of a new generation of public servant, Cipriano said, With
your support we can restore the kind of responsible fiscal policy and all around common sense
governing that is missing from Albany.

Cipriano, a lifelong resident of the Bath Beach neighborhood in Brooklyn, enters the race for
State Assembly in the 49th as the youngest candidate. Peter is the kind of fresh, new voice our
state needs, said Simon Shamoun, Republican leader of the 46th Assembly District, who was
present at the meeting, Hes not mixed up with the old system, the political patronage, and
special interests like a lot of the people we have in Albany now.

Seergy Club President, Clorinda Annarummo stressed the importance of this race for all
Brooklyn Republicans, In support of Peter, we are committed to launching a concentrated effort
in the 49th AD said Annarummo, With this race we have a real opportunity to send another
Brooklyn Republican to Albany.

Cipriano campaign manager, Karen Fischer, is confident of the viability of a Republican in the
49th AD, In 2008, Brooklyn as a whole voted for President Obama, but in the 49th John McCain
achieved a solid win showing that this district and its voters are unique, Fischer said, The
voters are thoughtful and aware, and right now especially, they want to see and hear the people
who seek to represent them.
Peter Cipriano was born and raised in the Bath Beach section of Brooklyn, NY. Peter first began
volunteering in his neighborhood political club when he was 14 years old and has since worked
on numerous local and state campaigns. He devoted his time and energy to the effort to save the
St. Finbar parish school and served as the youngest member of any Parish Council in the Diocese
of Brooklyn, having been appointed in 2007. Currently, Peter takes classes at the College of
Staten Island (CUNY) toward a degree in Political Science while maintaining matriculation at
the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. Peter resides in the Bath Beach
neighborhood of Brooklyn surrounded by both his immediate and extended family.
