understand why organisations need to change and how change affects organisations;
understand the key factors involved in the change process and different approaches to
managing change;
understand the impact of change on employees and the role of HR.

Your task (AC 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2)

You are required to produce a 1,000 word essay describing the impact of change within your
own organisation (or one that you are familiar with). You should include:
a short introduction to the organisation (name, industry sector, size, structure, age,
products/services, etc);
an explanation of why your organisation needs to continue to change focusing on the
internal and external factors that drive or influence the change, and how that change can
affect the business;
a description of at least four key factors involved in the change process;
a description of the critical stages involved in the change process and a comparison of at
least three approaches to managing change that could be used by organisations,
including an example of how your organisation has used one of them successfully or
unsuccessfully;
at least three different behavioural responses seen when change occurs in an
organisation, how these impact on the success of change management and at least
three ways in which HR can play a role in supporting individuals during change.
Throughout the assessment, you should refer to best practice and relevant legislation
where appropriate, and include reference to appropriate literature sources to
demonstrate your wider reading. Demonstrating evidence of wider reading through
appropriate referencing will improve your answer and increase the likelihood of your
work achieving a Pass. Similarly, failure to reference properly could result in an
assessment being referred.

Submission deadlines
Your essay should be submitted to the VLE. Please refer to the study calendar for the
