The Policy Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU) at Manchester Metropolitan University is a multi-disciplinary
team of evaluators, economists, sociologists and criminologists based in MMU's Sociology Department. We
work in the UK and Europe for clients and funders including UK government departments, local government,
the voluntary sector and the European Commission. What makes our work distinct is our emphasis on
methodological rigour. We work across sectors that include criminal justice, education, youth engagement
and radicalisation, welfare reform and social innovation.
Role
The post holder will provide research support to colleagues and support staff for projects in the Policy
Evaluation and Research Unit (www.mmuperu.co.uk) by assisting, and where necessary taking the lead, with
research data collection and analysis, and the dissemination of findings to appropriate groups related to the
project.
He/she will support the development of new areas in the fields of work that PERU undertakes.
Ideal Candidate
The post holder will possess a variety of research skills and experience ranging from the analysis of
quantitative data to the collection and analysis of interview data.

Possess sufficient breadth or depth of a range of social science subjects to work within an
