I found a suspenseful sound effect while browsing different sounds and songs for the thriller film opening. The song is approximately 1 minute in length and begins with a mysterious noise that progressively becomes louder until the end. Furthermore, the effect of this is as explained in the title, it creates a suspenseful atmosphere for the audience and keeps them on the edge of their seat. This sound effect could easily be implemented into my thriller film opening as a non-diegetic background song that builds suspense during a certain, progressive scene; however, the only problem with this audio clip is that it may be too short for a 2-3 minute opening. This problem can be resolved by duplicating the audio clip and combining them together to create a longer run. The owner of the audio clip also explained that is is free to use in short films or movies.
iMovie Scary Trailer Music
Another sound effect I found also came from YouTube, but it originally comes from iMovie. Instead of a suspenseful track, this audio clips falls under the category of horror because it starts off with a slow pace and low-key sound but then it builds up to a loud, fast pace sound. Nonetheless, this audio clip could fit into my film opening as a scene is becoming more intense progressively. Like the last audio clip, the only problem with this is that it is too short to be used as a background song for a 2-3 minutes film opening, but ultimately that issue can be fixed with editing. This clip is also completely free of charge and is provided by Apple for iMovie users.
Various Different Sound Effects
This video from YouTube includes multiple different thriller sound effects including a door opening, foot steps, and ten suspenseful sound effects. I would use these audio clips because they provide a wide variety of sound effects that can be used throughout my film opening. Moreover, suspense is a feeling of fascination and excitement mixed with tension and anxiety developed from an unpredictable event within a film, so these nondiegetic audio clips would create a mysterious atmosphere for the audience. Furthermore, the clips cannot be used as a background song because they are too short; however, they can be used to express small actions such as footsteps running or a someone opening a door. They are also free by the owner.
