ShipConfirmADelivery

ShipConfirmistheprocessofrecordingthatitemshaveshipped.Whenyou
shipconfirmadelivery,ShippingExecutionconfirmsthatthedeliverylines
associatedwiththedeliveryhaveshipped.
Theprerequisitesare:
Deliverylinesmustbereleased.
Deliverymustbeopen.
Atleastonedeliverylinemustbeassignedtothedelivery.
Toshipconfirmadelivery
1.NavigatetotheQueryManagerwindow,andfindthedelivery.
ThedeliverydisplaysintheShippingTransactionswindow.
2.FromtheActionsmenu,selectShipConfirmtodisplaytheConfirmDelivery
window.
3.IntheShipOptionsregion,selectoneofthefollowingshipconfirm
options:
ShipEnteredQuantities,UnspecifiedQuantitiesShip:Shipconfirmsthe
quantityofitemsspecifiedintheShippedQuantityfieldandtreatsblank
valuesasfullquantity(shippedquantity=requestedquantity).For
example,iftheRequestedQuantityis10andtheShippedQuantityfieldis
blank(novaluesentered),thefullquantity(10)isshippedanddisplays
in
theShippedQuantityfield.
ShipEnteredQuantities,UnspecifiedQuantitiesBackorder:Shipconfirms
the
quantityofitemsspecifiedintheShippedQuantityfieldandtreatsblank
quantitiesasfullbackorders(backorderquantity=requestedquantity).
For
example,iftheRequestedQuantityis10andtheShippedQuantityfieldis
blank(novalues),thefullquantity(10)isbackorderedanddisplaysin
the
BackorderedQuantityfield.

ShipEnteredQuantities,UnspecifiedQuantitiesStage:Leavesthe
unspecified
deliverylinequantityasstagedandremovesitfromthedelivery.For
example,iftheRequestedQuantityis10andtheShippedQuantityfieldis
blank(novalues),thefullquantity(10)remainsintheStageQuantity
field
andthelineisnolongerassociatedwithadelivery.
Note:IfanonzeroStageQuantityexistsonaline,itissplitfrom
thelineandunassignedfromthedelivery.IftheCreateDeliveryfor
StagedQuantitiesisenabled,allstageddeliverylinesaregrouped
togetherinanewdelivery.
ShipEnteredQuantities,UnspecifiedQuantitiesCycleCount:Shipconfirms
the
quantityofitemsspecifiedintheShippedQuantityfield,treatsblank
quantitiesasfullbackorders(backorderquantity=requestedquantity),
and
transfersthebackorderreservationtocyclecounting.Forexample,ifthe
RequestedQuantityis10andtheShippedQuantityfieldisblank(no
values),thefullquantity(10)isbackorderedandtransferredtocycle
counting.Youcanalsotransferdeliveryquantitiestocyclecountprior
to
shipconfirmbyusingtheShippingTransactionsform,CycleCountaction.
ShipAll:Shipconfirmstheentirequantityregardlessofwhatwasentered
in
theShippedQuantityfield(shippedquantity=requestedquantity).For
example,iftheRequestedQuantityis10andtheShippedQuantityfieldis
5,thefullrequestedquantityisshipped(10)anddisplaysintheShipped
Quantityfield.
BackorderAll:Backorderstheentirequantityirrespectiveofwhatwas
entered(shippedquantity=0,backorderquantity=requestedquantity).
CycleCountAll:Backorderstheentirequantityirrespectiveofwhatwas
entered(shippedquantity=0,backorderquantity=requestedquantity)
andtransfersthebackorderreservationtocyclecounting.Youcanalso
transferdeliveryquantitiestocyclecountpriortoshipconfirmbyusing
theShippingTransactionsform,CycleCountaction.
4.EnabletheCreateDeliveryforStagedQuantitiesbox(defaultsetting),if
youwantallstageddeliverylinesgroupedtogetherinanewdelivery.
Ifyoudonotwanttocreateatripforthedelivery,choosetheGobutton
toship
confirmandsaveyourwork.
5.IntheAutocreateTripOptionsregion,selectorupdatetheshipmethod
and
theactualdeparturedate.Thisallowsyoutospecifythestopdeparture
date
whichalsoupdatesInventory.

Thesimplestwaytoshipconfirmoneormoredeliveriesistoenablethe
Set
DeliveryinTransitandCloseTripfieldsintheConfirmDeliverywindow:
SetDeliveryIntransit:Createsatripandstopsforthedelivery.Closes
thefirststopofthedelivery,butleavessecondstopopen.Setsstatusof
deliverytoIntransitandinitiatesOrderManagement(OM)andInventory
interfaces.
CloseTrip:Createsatripandstopsforthedelivery.Closestrip,all
stops,
andthedelivery.
YoucanenterafutureActualDepartureDate.IfAllowFutureShipDatein
the
ShippingParametersform,ShippingTransactionstabbedregion,iscleared,
do
notdosoasyoureceiveanerror.IfAllowFutureShipDateisselected,
you
recieveawarningandtheInventoryInterfaceconcurrentprocessdoesnot
processthetransactionuntiltheactualdeparturedate.
6.EnabletheCreateBillofLadingboxifyouwanttocreateaBillof
Lading.
ThisgeneratesaBillofLadingnumberandprintsitifitispartofa
documentset.
7.Chooseoneofthefollowing:
IfyoudisabletheDeferInterfaceboxandrunShipConfirm,inventory
gets
decrementedandtheorderlineisupdatedwiththeshippedquantity.
IfyouenabletheDeferInterfaceboxandrunShipConfirm,youneedto
runtheInterfaceTripStopSRSconcurrentrequesttoupdatetheInventory
andtheOrderLinestatus.WhentheDeferInterfaceboxisenabled,a
requestisnotautomaticallysubmittedtointerfacethetripstops.
8.Selectthedocumentsetyouwantprintedforthedeliveryandchoosethe
OK
button.Atripandrelatedstopsarecreatedforthedelivery.Save
yourwork.

This problem can occur on any platform.

Symptoms
In Shipping Transaction form while doing Ship Confirm of the Sales Order you get the following Error
"FRM-40654 Record has been updated Requerry Block to see changes."
OR
In Shipping Transaction form while doing Ship Confirm you get the error message
'The action can not be performed because the selected records could not be locked'
OR
In Shipping Transaction form while Autocreating Delivery/Un-assigning the Delivery
'The action can not be performed because the selected records could not be locked'

Cause
This error may be occurring for one of the following reason:
1. The user may have unchecked "Close Trip" option at time of ship confirm, causing the delivery to have a status of
Confirmed and the trip and delivery to remain open. The confirmation process could have been halted for some
reason, causing it not to complete by not closing the delivery and trips.
---> Solution 1 or 2 will resolve this scenario
2. Some of the columns in the table WSH_DELIVERY_DETAILS may have trailing spaces. When such data is
queried in the Shipping Transaction form, the value in the database is first truncated before it is displayed in
Shipping Transaction form.
When any action is performed on delivery detail through Shipping Transaction form, the value in Shipping

Transaction form is compared against the value in database in the table WSH_DELIVERY_DETAILS in order to
lock the record in the table.
Since the value in the table has some trailing spaces, the values in the Shipping Transaction from is truncated does
not match the value in the Table, and hence the records can't be locked and error message pops.
---> Solution 3 will resolve this scenario
3. When attempting to confirm a delivery, the error appears. The debug log indicates that the delivery is missing a
Ship Method, however, user is unable to enter a ship method for the delivery as the field is grayed out in Shipping
and in OM the field is protected against update because the delivery is confirmed.
---> Solution 1 will resolve this scenario

Solution
There are several ways to resolve this, depending on how you want the order to progress:

A. If you want to ship the delivery lines , do the following:

1. Query the Order in Shipping Transaction form
2. Navigate to Delivery tab. From the Actions button, choose Reopen Delivery>Go. Requery order to confirm Delivery status is now "Open".
3. From the Actions button again, choose Unassign Trip>Go
4. Re-query order to confirm the Trip has been removed, then from the Actions button
again, choose Confirm Order>Go
5. Enter required information (such as Ship Method, quantity, Inventory Control)
5. Confirm the Order as usual.
B. If you want to cancel the order or order line, the delivery must be closed to do this, so do the following:
1. Query the Order in Shipping Transaction form
2. Navigate to Delivery tab. From the Actions button, choose Reopen Delivery>Go. Re-query order to confirm
Delivery status is now "Open".
3. From the Actions button again, choose Unassign Trip>Go
4. Once the Trip is removed, navigate to Delivery Line tab and remove the Shipped Quantity.
5. Once the Shipped Quantity field is null, go back to Delivery tab>then Actions button, choose Confirm Order>Go
6. Choose the Backorder All.
7. Once the delivery is closed and delivery lines are in backordered status, then navigate to Sales Order and cancel
as needed.
C. Apply the patch that matches your release to remove the trailing spaces:
For 11.5.8: Apply the standalone patch 3642718 which will deliver the file wshtrail.sql version 115.2
For 11.5.9: Apply the standalone patch 4488278 which will deliver the file wshtrail.sql version 115.2.1159.2
For 11.5.10: Apply the standalone patch 4488261 which will deliver the file wshtrail.sql version 115.2.11510.2
