PARTICIPANT DEVELOPMENT

A. The Ideologies That Influence The Educative Participant Development


The first ideology is nativism. Native means birth or natal. So nativism is the
ideology that emphasizes the importance of basic factor that is carried in birth.
According to it, the individual development is only influenced by the factors that are
carried in birth. Thus, according to this ideology, the successful in study is determined
by the individuals themselves.

Sometimes, nativism people keep the truth of this ideology by pointing various
equality or resemblance between parents and their children. They said, “If the father is
musician then his child too, painter’s child will be painter, fisherman’s child too, even
criminal’s child tends to be criminal. The main figure of this ideology is Arthur
Sophenhauer (1788-1860) a Germanic philosopher.

The second ideology is empirism means experience. So empirism means the


ideology that accentuates experience factor, environmental, education, and doesn’t
admit basic factor or inborn. According to people of empirism, the individual
development is only determined by environmental factor meanwhile inborn factor
doesn’t determine anything. The main figure of this ideology is John Locke (1632-
1704), a famous person that looks on the education is almighty to make whatever
kinds of man. To correct their ideology, the people of empirism point to education
with all facilities in make great person in universal.

The third ideology is convergenism. Converge in English means concentrate to


dot or meet. Therefore it can mean “appointment dot”. This ideology has gathered two
extreme ideologies, nativism and empirism. The main figure of this ideology is Louis
William Stern (1871-1938), a philosopher and Germany psychologist, said that
individual development is influenced and determined by two factors, inborn factor and
environmental factor. Both are very important.

B. The Factors That Influence The Educative Participant Development

1. Internal Factor

Those are the factors that come from the students themselves that contains
inborn factor and psychology potential to develop their selves. Therefore internal
factor can be divided into two parts, physical factor and psychological factor.

Physical factor; In this world, people have many kinds of body, such as tall and
thin, short and fat, or balance between tall and big of their body. It’s clear that every
factor has different effect for child’s growth and development.
Psychological factor; In psychological term, there are jaunty children, so they
are very flexible and have many friends. But there are also children that always in
depressed and sadness, easy to be pertained and they prefer to be alone.

2. External Factor

Those are the factors that come outside the students themselves that contain
environment (especially education) and interaction experience of student to
environment. External factors are divided into six parts: Biologic, Physic, Economic,
Culture, Education, and Religious.

Biologic factor is the factor that relates to primer necessary of a child in his/her
first life. This factor is the influence that comes firstly from his/her father and mother.

Physic factor is the factor that comes from geographic environment likes
weather, season, soil fertility, street communication to other region, etc. All of them
will come with effect for child’s growth and development that was born and live there.

Economic factor also influences so much. In the process of growth, a child has to
need cost for his/her life. Cost of eating or drinking and buying tools of school. These
are the important of economic.

There are many cultures in Indonesia, from Sabang until Merauke. There are
many communities of people who have different culture, custom and tradition that
influence the growth and development of children. That is the influence of culture
factor.

It can’t be disowned that education has influence to the growth and development
of children. Even the education has great influence than others, because it is planed
and organized regularly. Therefore, education factor has great influence to the growth
and development of children.

Religious factor can influence the habit and activity of children. For the
example, child of priest (kyai), he/she will be different than other child where his/her
father is not a priest and just a religious person, even an atheist. It is about the growth
and development, and the process of making habit of a child with religion as the
important factor that influences him/her.

C. The Islamic View of Educative Participant Development

The Islamic education aims to create man and people perfectly at all aspects of
life that can take in changing on culture life and civilization to get happiness in the world
and hereafter.

The program of Islamic education curriculum, need to be orientated on learning


(competency, knowledge, ability and social culture). The Islamic education methodology
in learning and teaching process has to use based learning student and not teaching
learning, and is orientated on trick to activate educative participant, trick to find, trick to
solve problem to result qualified educative participant, creative, innovative that can apply
religion in social behavior in global society life to be civic society.
Islam teaches to parents in order to teach their children about aqidah / reliance
early on. Islam enjoins to parents to introduce their children about God existence who
they curtsey. These are to give confidence doctrine to their children.
There are some opinions of Islam figure in the educative participant development
such as Imam Ghazali’s opinions, Ibnu Khaldun’s opinions, and Ibnu Sina’s Opinions.
Imam Ghazali says that child comes into the world likes a white paper. Child is
taught since birth. Child inures to be disciplined person as base as behavior education. If
children reach adult age, taught by syara's law and religious.
Ibnu Khaldun says that child develops step by step. Man is not forbear’s product,
buy history product, environmentally social, nature and tradition. Executed education
with notice growth and psychological potency developing of educative participant.
Ibnu Sina says that education on child can be begun since is weaned. On age 3
years, child inured by good inuring. Teaching Al-Quran and religious is given at the
moment child maturity zoom was steady. Momentous behavior education is given early.
