Human Resources Committee

The human resources committee examines labor related issues within the industry and
proposed laws and regulations affecting company employees. Issues such as wages,
hours, workers compensation, benefits and occupational hazards fall within the scope
of review by the committee. The committee then recommends to the association on
possible actions needed.

Mine Safety & Health Committee

The mine safety & health committee reviews safety related issues that affect the mining
industry in the state and on a federal level. It monitors these issues and makes recommendations on action to the association if required. The committee developed and
maintains an intensified safety recognition awards program.

Education Committee
The education committee of the Nevada Mining Association is dedicated to increasing
public awareness and understanding of the modern mining industry through educational programs for K-12 educators. The committee is actively involved in the development
of mineral education resources and programs and works year round to share these
resources and programs with the general public, other mining organizations, and the
states school districts. The committees primary activity is the presentation of semiannual workshops for K-12 teachers throughout the state.

The Nevada Mining Association is composed of nine standing committees made up of

representatives from the operating and vendor membership of the Association. These
committees act as the filtering bodies for issues, actions, legislation and opportunities
to benefit and enhance the role of mining in the State of Nevada. To participate on a

Public Outreach Committee

The public outreach committee is committed to strengthening the image of the Nevada
mining industry as a major financial contributor to Nevadas rural economy and as a vital, modern high-tech, environmentally responsible, safety conscious sector of Nevadas
business community. The committee will focus on media relations, community involvement in Reno and Las Vegas, speaking engagements, and other outreach opportunities.

Exploration Committee
The Exploration Committee educates and demonstrate the importance of exploration,
the mining industrys research and development sector, to legislators, regulators, and
community leaders as well as the public at large. The committee monitors and addresses issues and opportunities related to, and affecting exploration activities in Nevada.
Government Affairs Committee
The government affairs committee closely monitors legislative issues on state and
federal levels. Committee members work closely with Nevadas legislature, especially
during legislative sessions. A sub-group of the government affairs Committee is the
PAC, an advisory committee composed of members whose companies have contributed
to the Nevada Mining Association Political Action Committee. This group screens candidates and makes recommendations for political contributions to the Board of Directors.
Recommendations are also accepted from board members and the president.
Suppliers Committee
The suppliers committee serves as an enhanced program to allow vendor members and
those members who supply goods and services to the mining industry to be represented
through the Association and through interaction with other standing committees. Membership in the suppliers committee is granted by a special assessment beyond membership dues. The committee actively supports education activities, government affairs programs, sponsorship of the annual convention and serves as the primary supporter of the
membership directory. Members of the suppliers committee are provided with additional
business exposure through the association in return for these efforts and support.

Environmental Committee
The environmental committee reviews environmental legislation and regulations and
recommends a course of action to the Association. The committee also evaluates
permitting procedures, reclamation requirements, and any other environment-oriented
activities or actions that affect Nevadas mining operations.
Taxation Committee
The taxation committee reviews and analyzes tax and financial issues and legislation that
could impact the mining industry in the state. It prepares statements and makes recommendations to the association as to the course of action needed regarding such issues.
