Approval in Norway
1.1 Minimum requirements for recognition as higher education in Norway
(see also section. 2.1.2) A successfully completed high school and one year of higher education. Higher education
builds
on
this
level
can
normally
be
recognized
as
higher
education
in
Norway.

1.2 Education approved as equivalent to Norwegian higher education

2-year Bachelor Degree (Pass) is normally given general recognition as equivalent to 1 year of higher

education / 60 credits.
3-year Bachelor Degree (Honors) is normally given general recognition as equivalent to an accredited

Norwegian university graduate degree (2 years of higher education / 120 credits).


4-year Bachelor Degree is normally given general recognition as equivalent to an accredited Norwegian

bachelor's degree (3 years of higher education / 180 credits).


1-year Bachelor of Education that builds on a bachelor's degree (BA, BSc or B.Com) normally given general

recognition as equivalent to 1 year of higher education / 60 credits.


2-year Master Degree based on 2-year Bachelor Degree is normally given general approval to together as

equivalent to an accredited Norwegian bachelor / to forth a 3-year higher education / 180 credits.
1-year Master Degree based on 3-year Bachelor Degree is normally given general approval to together as
equivalent to an accredited Norwegian bachelor's degree (3 years of higher education / 180 credits)

1.3 Education Documents

Finally, diplomas for degree or diploma / Final Diploma, Degree Certificate Result
Intimation Card or Detailed Marks Certificate (transcript of degree or diploma / Transcript of Grades)

2.4 Teacher training

Primary Teachers (Primary school teachers) have a one-year education after Secondary School which

provides qualification Primary Teaching Certificate.


Teachers on Middle school have a 1-year degree that builds on Intermediate / Higher Secondary School

Certificate and providing qualification Certificate in Teaching.


Teachers in Secondary school has a 1-year education in addition to a bachelor's degree (as Norwegian
PPU) leading to a Bachelor of Education Degree.

2.6 Quality assurance / accreditation of higher education

In 2002, the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) created. HEC has been
given a greater role in areas such as regulation, accreditation and quality assurance
of higher education.
