Each student selects a film by Carlos Saura (see attached a list
of his films). The task entails to present a three (3) page study
of the selected film composed of an introduction, main clause
and conclusions.1
1) In the introduction (half a page) the following information
should appear:
The title of the film selected for study, year and place of its
publication, followed by a synopsis of the film (where it
takes place and what happens). Then, information
regarding who are the main- and secondary characters,
plus information regarding their role and what they
represent (if anything). At the end of the introductory
clause you introduce your research question something
like : In this study Ill examine / or / A continuacin
se investigar .
2) In the main clause the cinematographic analysis is
presented. Here you present your analysis and expose
your argumentation using secondary resources
(heimildir/ material referencial 5 minimum, plus the film):
- What is the films importance in the history of Spanish
cinema?
- in the curriculum of the film director.

works shall be presented on a separate page, minimum 5 references plus


the film.

- in the portrayal of Spain / in the creation of


stereotypes / in the representation of the population /
men / women / ???
- What is its main theme, topic, ideology, etc. ?
= in general terms, each student discussed why it is
important to study the selected film and how it relates to the
theme of the course on Spanish film history. 2
3) In the conclusions a reader expects the presentation of the
findings, hence the answer to the research question
exposed at the end of the introduction. Start with a
sentence or two presenting a summary of the issues
discussed, to then present your answers.
The turn in date is October 20th, before 4 oclock.

films and the study of their thematic concerns from theoretical
perspectives sociological, cultural, political or other.
