I. Rationale
United Nations Day is observed around the world to raise awareness of
the work, goals, and achievements of the United Nations and its family of
specialized agencies, especially in peacekeeping and humanitarian missions,
environment protection, human rights promotion, health and nutrition, and
settlement of refugees. In the Philippines, schools hold UN Day with a parade
of flag-waving children dressed in costumes of member -countries of the
United Nations. Government and school buildings display the United Nations
flag. Yearly, there are activities organized by Basic Education Department of
Our Lady of Fatima University Valenzuela to participate on this celebration
this includes discussions, meetings, exhibits, cultural shows, pageant, and
parade. This year OLFU BED VAL would like to earnestly continue this kind of
celebration with the help of the following objectives:

Make the students understand the importance of United Nations

Organization, thru creative and enjoyable activities
Help the students appreciate the cultural diversity of each nation;
Help the students develop self- confidence;
Instill the value of camaraderie and friendship among classmates, and the
school community.
