People take on the challenge of learning English for many reasons.
For example, it may help them advance in their career, it is used
internationally for science and business, and itis the most common
language on the internet. To improve their skills, students of English often
study or work in one of over 45 countries. in this chapter, we will look at
‘two popular destinations. The first reading gives useful information about
the United States and some of the customs and attitudes of its people.
‘The second reading presents fects about Canada and discusses the
qualities that visitors will find in Canadians that make them different from
‘their neighbors to the south.
