What are cookies?
Cookies are very small text files which store very small amounts of information. They are
used to remember settings and preferences between visits to the site, as well as information
between different pages on the same site.
For security reasons, cookies can only be read by the site that set them. We have no access to
cookies set on your computer by, for example, Google, Yahoo, Microsoft or any other website
on the internet. However, through the use of third party cookies, it is possible for sites to
collect information about visitors to other sites. For example, online advertisers may use third
party cookies to anonymously track an individuals visits to sites on the web.
More information about how we allow third party cookies on our sites is given below.
To find out more about cookies in general, you might find the following link useful

Wikipedia: HTTP Cookies

How do we use cookies?

Currently, there are four types of cookies that may be generated as you browse our site:
session cookies, preference cookies, analytics cookies and third party cookies.
1. Session Cookies
As you move through the site, various pieces of information need to be stored in order for the
site to function properly. For example, if you perform a search for jobs, the search terms you
use will be remembered so that you can change them later. If you log in, we will remember
which account you logged in with.

Ver. 0.1

This information is stored in a database and is referred to as a session. We set one cookie to
keep track of which session you are using. Old session data is automatically deleted from our
databases multiple times a day, so we do not store this information long-term.
In addition to the session cookie, we sometimes set a cookie to check if we can set cookies on
your computer. This is done for diagnostic purposes when you use our contact form. We use
this information to help solve any problems you may have encountered.
How do I control session cookies?
You can use your browser settings to control whether or not we set session cookies. More
information on your browser settings is provided at the bottom of this page.
Please be aware that cookies are critical to the working of the site. If you choose to disable
cookies from this site the functionality of the site will be greatly reduced.
2. Preference Cookies
Currently we only set one preference cookie. This is set when you click OK on the cookies
acceptance banner displayed on the site. If this cookie is set, we will not display the banner at
the top of the page.
How do I control preference cookies?
These cookies are set as a direct result of your choice, and function solely as indicators of
what that choice was. We do not believe they pose any risk to your privacy. However, you
can always use your browser settings to control whether or not our site can set cookies on
your computer.
Please be aware that cookies are critical to the working of the site. If you choose to disable
cookies from this site the functionality of the site will be greatly reduced.
3. Analytics Cookies
In order to monitor how our sites are performing, we collect data about page visits. This
information is completely anonymous we cannot determine who it came from. When we
use this data, we look at numbers of visitors overall rather than individual visits.
Analytics information is used in reports and to improve our site. For example, we have used
analytics data to add, remove or change features of the site based on how popular they are
with users.
We track, for example:

the numbers of visitors to individual pages;

when pages were visited;

how long users stayed on the page;

Ver. 0.1

the page they came from;

technical data about the device being used to browse the site (such as browser and
operating system version, and display size) we use this data to ensure that the
technology our site uses is appropriate for the majority of our users, and how best to
display the site for users who have less capable browsers.

More information about analytics cookies

We use Google to provide our analytics data. You can read more about how Google Analytics
treats your data at: Google: Safeguarding your data.
You can also read Googles full privacy policy.
How do I control analytics cookies?
Google provides a tool to opt-out of Google Analytics. This is available for all modern
browsers in the form of a browser plugin.
Additionally, you can control how cookies are set using your browser settings. See below for
more information.
4. Third party cookies
The advertisements you see displayed on the site are generated by third parties. These
services may use their own anonymous cookies to track how many times a particular ad has
been displayed to you, and may track your visits to other sites where their ads are displayed.
Please note that advertisers can only track visits to sites which display their ads or other
content. This tracking is anonymous, meaning that they do not identify who is viewing which
ads.
Tracking in this manner allows advertisers to show you ads that are more likely to be
interesting to you, and also limit the number of times you see the same ad across a wide
number of sites. As an example of how advertisers operate, if you recently researched
holidays, adverts for holiday operators may subsequently appear on our sites.
We do not have access to, or control over, these third party cookies; nor can we view the data
held by these advertisers. Online advertisers provide ways for you to opt-out of your
browsing being tracked. More information about the advertisers we use, and how to opt-out,
is provided below.
AdTech
We display adverts from a German company called AdTech. You can view AdTechs privacy
policy. This page also allows you to control what cookies AdTech saves on your computer.
More information about online advertising and tracking
The International Advertising Bureau has produced a website to give more information about
privacy and advertising on the internet.

cookies are set on your computer, and how long they are stored. You may have more than one
browser installed on your computer. In this case, you will need to change the settings for each

inclusion in our CV database product. This Service allows your CV to be viewed by

Jobsie-032 Static Pages Use Case

Ver. 0.1

34. 10.3 You may remove your CV from our database at any time. However, recruiters
who have already accessed your CV may have kept a copy of it in their own files.

database, CVs are removed from recruiters access if they have not been updated for a
period of 12 months. If you wish your CV to remain in the searchable database, you
must update your details at least once every 12 months.
36. 11

ENSURING QUALITY OF CONTENT

37. 11.1 The following terms of use are in place to protect the quality of the Content on
the Website. Quality Content means that jobseekers can find the most relevant
positions quickly and easily and that employers receive relevant applications.
38. 11.1.1
Only real jobs (i.e. positions that are currently available) can be posted to
the Website.
39. 11.1.2 To ensure equal exposure for all positions advertised on the Website, job
adverts may only be updated/amended once per day.
40. 11.1.3
Once a new job has been added, this job may only be reposted and treated
as a new position once 30 days have elapsed. Cloning and reposting jobs more
frequently than this is misleading for jobseekers.
41. 11.1.4
Each position may be posted once only. Posting duplicates of the same job
gives unrealistic search results and is deeply frustrating for job seekers.
42. 11.1.5
It should be made clear in the job description if a jobseeker is not applying
for a specific position, but rather their CV is being added to a bank of CVs for future
positions that may arise.

House Rules for Posting Jobs on Jobs.ie

These rules are all intended to make the Jobs.ie site easier to use, thus attracting more
jobseekers to fill your jobs.
By enforcing these rules, we provide a level playing field for all recruiters using our service
while at the same time increasing the long term benefits you will reap from your subscription
with Jobs.ie

The title should reflect / summarise the job description. It is to no-ones advantage if a
jobseeker has to unnecessarily click on a title to find that a job description is
unsuitable.

Jobs should not use excessive CAPITAL LETTERS or **** Punctuation!!!!

Ver. 0.1

The clone function should only be used to quickly copy and update old job
descriptions. Abuse of the clone function will result in it being suspended.

Do not post the same job twice, even if it is rephrased.

One job per Advertisement.

Expire the job as soon as it is filled. (Or let us know and we will do it.)

If you are recruiting in order to build a panel of CVs for a position that is not at that
moment vacant, this should be made clear in the job description.

If there is a cost involved to the jobseeker at any stage in the process of getting the job
advertised, that must be explained in the advertisement.

The employer must take care that a job is advertised in the right categories and
regions. In particular avoid misusing the Miscellaneous section.

Avoid generic job advertisements such as TEMPS, TEMPS, TEMPS or Legal,

Legal, Legal.

Any jobs that pay commission only must be tagged as such when creating a job. Tick
the box next to the salary section.

Do not put an email address in the job title or the job description. There is a place for
this, if you feel you have special requirements let us know and we can usually suggest
a way to solve your problem.

All adverts must comply with the Employment Equality Acts which prohibit
discrimination in employment and access to employment on nine grounds which are
gender, family status, civil status, age, religion, race, sexual orientation, disability and
membership of the Traveller community.
