1. What are the authors arguments / point of view?

The authors point of view is Malaysians are still uninformed about animal welfare
even in this era of technology and the animal act that some people still did not know.

2. What are the key points stated in the article?

The key points stated in the article are every year we can see many reports in the
media of animals being abused physically and emotionally (yes, they also have
feelings too). Cats and dogs, stray or pets, are brutally beaten to death, scalded with
hot water, chained to fences under the sun and some of them are thrown from the
balconies of tall buildings, poisoned or used to or for entertainment in shows and
competitions. Next, there was the case of stray dogs that were transported to an island
off Selangor and left to starve to death, a few years ago. The perpetrators might not
have had the heart to kill the dogs themselves but leaving them on an island where the
food was scarce is equivalent to making them suffer a slow and painful death. There
was a huge public outcry over the mistreatment of these animals at that time.

3. Is the article clear and well-supported?

Yes, the article is clear and well-supported. There is stated about the Animal Act in
Malaysia that is Animals Act 1953 (Act 647) revised 2006, amended 2013 (Act
A1452) sets out the punishment for animal abusers under Part IV, Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals (Section 44(1) a to g), which states that a person found guilty of
animal abuse will be fined and may face possible imprisonment. The penalty for
animal abuse has also been significantly raised to a fine of between RM20, 000 and
RM100, 000 and/or imprisonment for up to three years.

4. Does the author provide any counter-arguments?

No, the author does not provide any counter-arguments. There is no counterarguments as there are no others way that can reduce the cases of animal abuse. In this
article the author only explain the animals act and the penalty for animal abuse and
the cases of the animal abuse.

5. Do you agree with the authors point of view / argument? Why?

Yes, I agree with the authors point of view because animals should not be abuse as
they also have feelings like us. The animals or pets should be treated well. Some of
the animals or pets can make a good deed to its owner. For example, there was a news
that a cat saved its owner from got bitten by a snake. The owner found the cat at street
and take a good care until now.

6. What is your stand on the issue? Provide appropriate reasons to support your
stand.
I would like to give my stand on this issue based on my readings and understanding
that people nowadays are not aware about the animal welfare. The animals also have
feeling like us. They should be treat well and nicely. There is also a way that we can
reduce the cases of the animal abuse for example make a place that we can gather and
take care of the abandoned cat because the abandoned cat is easy to become the
victim of the animal abuser. In conclusion, there will be less cases if more people
have awareness about the animal welfare.
