Evelin Alvarez. Composition 4.

Jun 16th, 2016.

Writing Essentials 1 (1337-108).
Instructor: Maryam McCubbin.
For my fourth composition, I am writing a memorandum for my boss, the owner of VN
Restaurant, in which I am highlighting the store performance from June.
To: Jose Alves, Owner.
From: Evelin Alvarez. General manager.
Date: July 01, 2016.
Subject: Monthly report.
Mr. Alves,
I have attached my monthly report to this memo, however, I also want to quickly discuss
three important highlights about our last month performance: trends in our sale data,
customer feedback, and coworkers issues.
I am thrilled to communicate that we have served more than 1450 customers from June
1rst to June 30th (M6), which is a 43% percent increase comparing to the sales of M5 (May).
Our data analysis shows that this upswing corresponds to the creation of company pages on
various social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and Pinterest) allowing
more people to connect and communicate with us virtually 24 hours. We also noticed an
increase of 27% of VIP memberships 97% of them made online, and an 82% renewal rate in
memberships that were set to expire at the end of M6 half of it made online. This increment
has been so far the highest in 17 years.

Regarding customer communication, we could observe an increase of the quantity of emails, regular mail, calls, and customer-staff conversations, most of which was a positive
feedback. We also noticed that 40% of the written communication was made through social
media. There were two important subjects requested by our clients: catering services and
nutrition information. In attention to catering and possibly deliveryservices, I am attaching
a very detailed business plan to this communication. Due to the second high requested topic,
I agree that customers should have access to as much information as they desire before
making a purchase, in fact, it would represent a good opportunity to demonstrate our
commitment to quality service although our restaurant would not be required by law to provide
the nutrition facts of our products, therefore Ive listed some suggestions that are also
attached.
Unfortunately, there was an inconvenience with two members of our staff half of the month
happened to be late to their shift and showed a performance that does not correspond to our
values and policies, even though their supervisor communicated her discontent with them in
three occasions. In addition, the manager of the kitchen is going on vacation next month so
we are going to be needing a very skilled replacement co-worker or new hired professional. I
would like to add this subject to the agenda for our monthly review meeting later this week.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
Evelin Alvarez.
