Abstract:This research paper is aimed on How can people contribute to involve transgender in our
community? We needed suggestions and views of different people of different age group and
gender as well. So with the help of research and Mass Media , we ended up with getting
different point of view keeping in my mind about peoples psychology. Indian government is
not looking out in to this topic as of now but we are expecting them to give some reviews and
opinion. It is important to get the same support from public as well as government. Media
also plays important role in supporting Transgender community. It is also a Taboo in few
north countries like China, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand.

Introduction:Gender and sexuality are the topics which are hardly discussed in our society, this things are
always pushed down by our society. If we try to support them and converse about them with
people, then they might feel offended and rude and might give harsh responses. As this is a
very sensitive topic to talk on, people dont prefer talking about them and displaying their
views in audience. They humiliate as well discriminate about this matters. Today gender
equality is most discussed topic at the moment, whether it may be school, college, a firm or a
group of people at a particular place. Mostly society is unaware of non binary category of
gender.
Now what is the third Gender?
What does it exactly mean?
What is their role in our society?

It is neither a male nor female. They are categorized as transgender by the society. So gender
identification of an individual as a man, women and transgender. They are also
misunderstood by the people. They should get equal behaviour with people. These type of
people should be supported in every way as they are also human being. There are some
famous celebs who are coming up with this trend. They do not feel shamed about being
comfortable with the same gender. As per the statistics, there are over a million of
transgender. They are also known as Hijdas in our society. They are treated really bad.
The main objective of this survey is to make people aware of this community in our society.
They do have their own community, but there are some people who tend to be transgender
and start waiting near signals to feed their stomach.
No one has the right to make any decisions for this community as they have their own life to
live.
There are 7 countries who are giving transgender people Fundamental Rights :
1) Nepal
Nepal is belive to become the worlds first country to include the third gender opyion
on its census forms, which it initiated in 2011. This country has led the way in south
Asia , also introducing a third gender category on its passports last year.
2) India
India has long recognised a community of five to six millions Indians as HIJRAS,
citizens who dont identify themselves as either male or female.
3) Pakistan

4)
5)
6)
7)

In 2009 the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered to conduct a census of hijras in the
country. At the end of 2009 the chief justice of Pakistan ordered a database and
registration authority to issue national identity cards with a third gender category
for non-binary citizens.
Bangladesh
At leat 10,000 hijras live in Bangladesh, according to the national statistics.
Germany
Last November Germany became the first European country to officially recognize a
third gendercategory, this time on birth certificates for intersex infants.
New Zealand
New Zealand gave its transgender citizens a new gender category on their passports in
2012,with the introduction ofX for undeterminrd or unspecified.
Australia
On April 2 Australia ruled that people are not unambiguously male or female, allowing
a third gender under the law.
BUT countries like US lack in thisAs many 64% of transgender in US lack in
health insurance. Up to 57% of transgender Americans report facing job
discrimination, and up to 72% report being unemployed.
Many people are also unaware of the term GENDER DYSOPHORIA , which
means discomfort with your assigned gender.
Media representation
As more transgender people are represented and included within the realm of mass
culture, the stigma that is associated with being transgender can influence the
decisions, ideas, and thoughts based upon it. Media representation, culture industry ,
and social marginalization all hint at popular culture standards and the applicability
and significance to mass culture as well.
Events
International Transgender Day of Visibility is an annual holiday occurring on march
31 dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of
discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide.

Transgender
Secondary (article)
1) The Transgender Battle Line: Childhood
In this article the writer says

Psychologists have learned how to treat adults with gender dysphoria, but how about 5-yearsolds?
2) What It Means to Be Transgender:
When a child is born ,a doctor says, Its a boy or Its a girl.
Assigning someones sex is based on biology chromosomes, anatomy, and hormones. But a
persons gender- - the inner sense of beinf male, female , or both - - dosent always match
that sex . Transgender people say they were assigned a sex that isnt true to who they are.
Many people have assumptions about what it means to be transgender, but it isnt about
surgery, or sexual orientation , or even how someone dresses. Its how they feel inside.

Objective of Study:

To involve transgender in our society system.

To provide them equal rights.
Except transgender as a gender.
To understand problems faced by them.
Most important , WHAT & WHO are the transgender actually..
To change the old and negative mindset about transgender.
Make people realise even they are humans and even they have the right to live the
way they want.

According to the survey done positive response are more than the negative response.
People are do accepting the new changes in the society and changing their mind .

They do belive that transgender are humans before anything and therefore, they
should be treated equally and should be given democracy.
They dont have issues working with them or living with them.
Most of them are ready to accept their child if he/she is a transgender.
They even feel that transgender has a full right to get engaged in relationship
They strongly belive that it is not necessary for a person to be a male or a female to
run the country which means even a transgender can run a country.
But coins do have two side many people had their negative thoughts about
transgender , they fell transgender should have different community and should stay
with their group away only. They feel that transgender are uneducated worms and are
just made for beggings and such people are not worth to run a country

Suggestions:-

The best way to accept it is firstly not to judge people according to the rule set by the society.
If transgender is a new concept then our perspective towards it should also be new and
liberal. As human beings we must learn to accept people and as individual with independent
choices. We must not forget that to each his own and the very fact that being in cultural
nation with a diverse variety of people settled with their diverse up bringing, we cannot
expect every one to think in similar accepting pattern towards transgender. But one thing is
for sure, if we cant respect them then we clearly have no right to disrespect them. We must
not create any gap for narrow minded people, especially in a youth centric nation like India.
By providing them education, and similar facilities like other human beings, we can make
them comfortable in our society.
There have been many examples when firsts for the transgender have come. The first
transgender principle and others. Society needs to change their outlook towards them.
Probably its only we as youths who can change their outlook on the same. The next time we
see a person laughing and making fun of a transgender , we should stop him/her. People
should stop fearing from them. They aint aliens or they wont kill you or harm you for no
reason.
Laxmi Narayan Tripathi is a transgender activist, hindi film actress and bharatantyam dancer
in Mumbai, India. She is the first transgender person to represent Asia Pacific in the UN in
2008. People should be more humane. They should respect us as a human beings and
consider our rights as transgenders, she said. If they want to live their life peacefully as a
normal human beings than who are we to stop or oppose them?!
Dont know how long society will take to accept them but if anyone can they should be
atleast offered with small jobs so that they can make most of the opportunity to provr
themselves. They might be better than you and me and others around for that matter but they
will be waiting for one opportunity where they can prove that theyre no less than men or
women, Does anyone laugh at you or make fun of you for being a man or a woman? NO!
Then why are we? The day we accept them will be the day they will stop begging in the trains
and roads.

ITS WE WHO CAN HELP THEM!

Some of the great quotes from people and novel regarding transgender

If you understand trans-genders, then you understand that gender doesnt have to do
with bed partners, it has to do with identity Christine Jorgensen, 1979
I believe that transgender people..are living out real, authentic lives, those lives
should be celebrated not questioned. Gloria Steinem
People changed lots of other personal things all the time. They dyed their hairs and
dieted themselves to near death. They took steroids to build muscles and got breast
implants and nose jobs so theyd resemble their favourite movie stars. They changed
names, jobs , husband and wives. They changed religion and political parties. They
even changed nationalities. Why was the gender the one sacred thing we werent
supposed to change? Who made that rule ? - ELEN WITTLINGER, parrotfish
(novel)
God the almighty have created us, he says you all are my kid and for me you all
are same (bhagwat geeta) than who are we to discriminate ? Vandana Tiwari.

Conclusion:After the judgement passed on 15th April, 2014, for the recognization of the transgender as
third Sex has made tremendous change in government welfare policies. Mumbai University
has recently altered the admission, scholarship, examination, forms, for transgender so that
they are not denied the right to education. After 45 years, Rajya Sabha in the month of March
2015, has passed a private members bill, seeking equal rights for upliftment of transgender,
but even after all this measures taken by Indian Government discrimination exists against
transgender people. We should create awareness about the rights of transgender

amongpeople. Once people start accepting them, society will change their views about this
community.
