IC 01: The principles of infection prevention and control


I learned how important is to use Personal Protective Equipment to prevent and
control an infection.

IC 02: Causes and spread of infection


I learned the differences between bacteria, viruses and parasites, and the common
illnesses and infections caused by these.

SHC 21: Introduction to communication in health, social care or childrens and young
peoples settings
I learned how to communicate with a client in different situation, and how to observe
and reflect.

SHC 23: Introduction to equality and inclusion in health, social care or childrens and
young peoples settings
I understood the importance of diversity, equality and inclusion. How to respect my
colleagues no matter where they come from or what religion they are.

HSC 024: Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
I learned how to recognise an abuse, what to do in a situation where somebody is abused,
whom to address too, and how many types of abuse they are.

HSC 025: Understand the role of the social care worker


I learned the difference between a personal relationship and a working relationship
and how important is to work in partnership with others.

HSC 026: Implement person centred approaches in health and social care
I learned how to encourage active participation and how this can benefit an individual.

HSC 027: Contribute to health and safety in health and social care
I learned how to promote fire safety in the work setting.

DEM 305: Understand the administration of medication to individuals with dementia


using a person centred approach
I learned how to administrate medication to an individual with dementia, and what are
the risks and benefits of anti psychotic medication for individuals with dementia.

DEM 310: Understand the diversity of individuals with dementia and the importance of
inclusion
I understood the concept of diversity, how to respect and individuals heritage and I
learned that each individuals experience of dementia is unique.

DEM 312: Understand and enable interaction and communication with individuals who
have dementia
I am able to communicate with an individual with dementia using different
techniques, I know how to analyse and observe behaviours and how to approach an
individual with dementia.

HSC 2014: Support individuals to eat and drink


I learned how to support an individual to eat and drink, how to help him to make
choices, encourage independency, how to monitor and keep records.

HSC 2024: Undertake agreed pressure area care


Taking care of a pressure area is very important. I learned the anatomy of the skin,
how to take care of the skin and what actions to take when the skin is changed. I learned the
correct moving and handling in case of a pressure sore.

HSC 2028: Move and position individuals in accordance with their plan of

care
I learned how to move and position an individual. I learned that I have to follow the
care plan and to keep records especially for pressure sore which includes turning charts.
