tional standards for wildland fire inves-
tigator certification and was developed
by an international fire investigation
working team made up of the Ministry
and wildfire agencies in Australia, the
US & New Zealand.
Last year, 219 fire-related investiga-
tions were completed, resulting in 170
violation tickets. Investigations may also
lead to administrative hearings, prosecu-
tion and penalties of up to $1 million.
