Andheri chaturthi vrats

14th Chaturdashi is Lord Rudra (Shiva) himself. The 14th day of the dark half of
every month is called Sivaratri or Masa sivaratri. The one in the month of Magh
(Feb-Mar) is called Mahasivaratri, since it is the greatest of all.
every krishna (bahula) chaturdasi of the month (14th day of the dark half of the lunar calendar) is
observed as masa sivaratri. in othernwords, this most auspicious day of the month for lord shiva
occurs a day before amavasya every month.
the ideal suggested way to observe the chaturdasi vrat in a simplemanner for the present man is as
follows:
on the morning of the vrat day, perform rudrabhishekam to lord shiva at your home or at a temple
with panchamrutam and offer bilva patrams to him along with two suparis, two masculine fruits like
bananas, mangoes, apples etc but should not be a female fruit like litchi etc. Offer one coconut
wrapped in mouli to shivlinga along with things mentioned above .
Donate one lota and white cloth to young brahmin/pujari
Come back home and drink cold milk ,no food during the day but in the evening you can take fruits
and cold milk again.
Preferably try to do jaap of Om namo shivaay the whole night ( observing Jagrata)
the next day morning after bath, he worships lord shiva again and then breaks the fast.
Dapan on shivratri .
