On first of July at early morning I visited the Amul Branch Office in Hubli, I met
with the Branch Manager Mr. Eldrich V Rangel . He and along with his colleagues
Mr. Dheeraj explained me what I need to do in my entire internship process. As my
job profile is retail universe listing, demand estimation and strategy to service
Amul products in Hubli city,in that they told me that first I need to do retail
universe listing that is I need to meet at least 10 distributors of competitors
companies of Amul and get the details of the retail outlets to whom they are
serving which includes Grocery shops, Super markets, Bakeries etc. which should
be around 600 retail outlets. Then I need to frame the questionnaire and get
approve from the branch manager then conduct the market research for 1000
sample size that is 600 retail outlets and 400 consumers finally need to analyze the

data through SPSS. He also told me to think creatively and innovate the new ways
through which they can maximize their sales.

2 July 2016
On second July the branch manager told me to visit one of their ice cream
distributor in Dharwad to know the distribution operations for at least 1 week. At
morning 10.30am I visited the distributors office. He supplies ice creams to 52
retail stores which include both bakeries and grocery shops. And showed me their
cold storage. Retailers who need ice cream calls to distributors office and place
the order according to their requirements or otherwise the clerk in distributors
office calls to each retail shop owners and ask for the orders. After getting the
orders the clerk prepares the bill in which he clearly mentions the shop name, date,
type and quantity of products ordered, price and tax rate. Then they dispatch the
products from their cold storage and load it in their vehicle and deliver the
products to retailers stores. Some retailers make payments cash on delivery basis
and some takes credit facility. At the end of the day the clerk calculate how much
sales they made for the day and check their stock how much is left and how much
need to order. He maintains the separate ledger account for each retailer.

4 July 2016
At morning 10.30am I visited the distributor office. Because of the off season that
is rainy season they are not getting much of the orders of ice cream. But still they
manage to get the 2 orders from the retailers in Dharwad. Both the retailers place
the ice cream order of around Rs. 13000/-. They dispatched the products from their
cold storage and loaded in their vehicle. I went along with the sales person to
deliver the products to the retailers.

5 July 2016
At morning 10.30am I visited the distributors office. Till 2pm they didnt get any
order for the day. In this day they got only one order from the retailer in Hubli.

6 July 2016
At morning 10.30am I visited the distributors office. On this day he didnt had
much of stock of ice cream with him, he called to branch office and placed the
order. Amul has maintained two godowns for their products, one is for their dry
products and another is for ice creams and butter. The godown in which the Amul
company is keeping their stock of ice creams is bit far away from the Hubli city. I
went along with the driver and salesperson to see the godown and how safely they
bring stock to the distributors office. They check carefully while loading their
stock item wise. In this they got 4 orders from the retailers and made the sales of
around Rs. 18000/-.

7 July 2016
Holiday on account of Eid-ul-fitar.

8July 2016
At morning 11am I visited the distributors office. At morning they didnt get
orders because of rainy season. But around 3pm they got 3 orders from the retailers
in Hubli City.

9 July 2016
At morning 10.30 am I visited the distributors office. In this day they got 6 orders
from the retailers both in Hubli and Dharwad and made the sales of Rs.21000/-.
