Subject: Reading books is a waste of time. All the knowledge you need is online.

Write an opinion essay.

In today's world more and more people use the Internet. Some of them think that
books are obsolete and all the every information you need is on the Internet. I
strongly believe that the World Wide Web is more useful than books.
First of all, the Internet is a more comprehensive source of the knowledge. There are
billions of subjects about everything. Everybody can find some information for
himself. The main advantage of this is that you don't have to use a table of
contents and go through the whole book.
Secondly, all the books you need are online. There are existing eBooks and Audio
books, which can replace traditional books. For instance, you mustn't don't have
to go to a library and check it out, you can just download it at home.
As a result, it's quicker and more comfortable. Moreover, the Internet is supports
multimedia formats. A In a book is only a black text on a white paper, while on in
the Internet are many animations and pictures, which can help you to remember
and understood modern issues.
One argument against using the Internet is that it isn't a reliable source of
information. There are a lot of mistakes made by authors users. Books have more
plausible (?) issues, which makes them better sources of knowledge.
I don't have the ending, but what do you think about that?
It's a good start.
Personally, I don't think that reading books is a waste of time. I enjoy the stories. I
can appreciate the great classics from a long time ago. I belong to a book club
where my friends and I discuss books and their ideas. I read books in bed or while
flying, A good read puts me to sleep, and makes the hours pass by quickly on a long
trip. To me, an eBook is just another kind of book; it is not a web site.
If you can separate truth from fiction and fact from opinion, the Internet is great as
a quick reference for information. But it cannot build up your knowledge on a
subject as a well-written textbook can.

Internet is better than books. We have to buy or borrow the books in a shop or in a
library. But,when we read books from internet, we don't need to borrow, just
download it and read it in your computer. It saves time and energy. Moreover,it also
saves your money. Therefore, I think internet is better than books.
Internet is much more better than books because paper is being wasted and which

is causing deforestation which is playing an important role in the global warming!

we can use eBooks and other types of electronic means to get information.we have
a vast knowledge on internet. we just need a keyword and the information is there
at no time. No time wasted in finding the right book with more information and No
energy wasted by going to the library and finding the book..!

As a writer of historical articles about the mule (yes, the animal), I have to disagree
strongly regarding the internet being a better resource for accurate information
than a book. Another thing that I would like to point out to the writer of the opinion
is that you are incorrect when you state that all books can be found online. Nothing
couuld be further from the truth and there are thousands of books that have not
been digitalized and probably never will be, due to them being obscure. I cannot tell
you how much misinformation is "out there" in cyberspace regarding mules and
donkeys. Yes, the internet is a fine place to begin research, but not the place to
finish it. That is best done through a library, reading books and speaking to experts.
Thank goodness for World Cat which allows you to locate a book that may or may
not be on the internet and borrow it through inter-library loan. Give me an actual
book over an electronic device anytime!

Are you happy when its your birthday? Why do we celebrate birthdays and why is it so
important to us?
Birthdays are celebrated everyday and everywhere. From China to North America, birthdays are
milestones that are celebrated in everyones life. While the festivities are different, the events and
reasons to celebrate them are the same across all cultures. A birthday carries many unspoken
societal norms.
For example, in the U.S. when you turn 18, there is an expectation to start living on your own or
go to college. In contrast, in Hispanic cultures 18th birthdays are not a big deal. If you are a
Hispanic female at 15, you celebrate Quinceanera, and in the U.S. you have to wait one more
year to celebrate your Sweet Sixteen.
Birthdays are the beginning and the end of personal rights and privileges. As you get older you
gain the right to vote, to enlist in the military, to consume alcohol or to smoke. But as we
continue to age, we start losing opportunities as well.

IN THE PUBLIC EYE

Birthdays are a public declaration of a new phase in your life. From childhood to adulthood,
every time we reach one of the milestones, the expected behavior from that individual changes.
With age comes new roles and norms. These changes include how to behave in public, how to
dress, and how to talk. How many times have you heard someone say, Isnt she is too old to
wear that?
Our birthdays are a validation of identity and existence. Directly or indirectly, we evaluate
ourselves against our life plan. How many times have you said to yourself, At this age I will be
married or at this age I will be ready for retirement. Birthdays make us think, who are we?
and where am I in my life?
We only have a limited number of birthdays and we always celebrate them to the fullest so my
question is:
Why you think we celebrate birthdays?
By the way if today is your birthday, Happy Birthday!

Shopping can be an emotional release for many students. Lots of students shop to
reduce stress or just to pass the time with their friends. Shopping out of boredom or
to cope with life's woes can lead to much bigger problems. When it starts to get out
of control, consumerism becomes a bad habit, even an addiction. If your bank
account has been taking a beating due to over purchasing, you might have a
compulsion to shop.
Shop-a-holics show signs that are similar to other addicts. You think that shopping
and buying things, even little things like make-up or gifts for others, is going to
make you feel better and forget about your problems. Actually, it makes you feel
worse, compounding guilt, financial hardship and anxiety on top of whatever was
wrong to begin with. Finding yourself in a financial struggle or deep in debt can
strain relationships with your friends and family. Living beyond your means
stretches your sanity as well as your wallet.
Do you go out for just a few things and come home with your trunk full? Do you
seem to shop more after an emotional trauma or stressful situation? These are
questions that students with a problem don't want to face. Don't get caught in that
downward spiral of spending due to stress where that moment of elation leads to
even more stress and worry. Ask yourself every time if what you are about to buy is
a "need" or a "want". The hard part is not buying the things that you only "want".
Try to recognize the signs that you may have a problem. Have you made purchases
and regretted it later? Bought things that you never used? Maybe your family or
friends have expressed a concern or disapproval that led you to hide items, or lie

about prices. Many compulsive shoppers report feeling elated and nervous at the
same time when making frivolous purchases. They later feel guilty or embarrassed
about the truth of their shopping spree. They also have a general belief that
shopping is "bad behavior".
Something to think about is that you're letting marketing control you. Commercials
and ads seem to prey on your psyche. Just passing a store or getting a little extra in
your bank account sends you into a "What can I buy?" mental frenzy. Remind
yourself that you will only feel worse afterward. It's really not worth the guilt and
trauma that it causes.
Avoid circumstances that may make you want to spend. Never use credit cards.
Keep one emergency one at home. If it is in a store, it's most likely not an
emergency. Exercise, yoga and hot baths generally curb the temptation to shop.
Take a drive through the country where there aren't any stores. Patience is a learned
skill. Have patience with yourself and your money. Immediate gratification doesn't
last long, but patience can benefit you for the rest of your life. If you need more

Bali is one of many tourism destinations in Indonesia which is very famous. As we know, that
Bali has a lot of interesting tourism objects such as culture tourism objects, extreme tourism
objects, and many others. Every year, there are a lot of local tourists or tourists from abroad
which visit Bali. If we access the internet, we will find a lot about Bali. There are many sites in
the internet which provide information about Bali. With that information, we can ge

t many things about Bali.

Bali is one of the most beautiful islands in the world which is located in Indonesia. This island is
located near the Java Island and Nusa Tenggara. From many years ago, Bali has become the most
famous tourism destination in Indonesia. With beautiful beaches, unique cultures, and warmness
of the people there, Bali has been visited by a million people every year. Some of tourism objects
in the Bali which are often visited by the tourists are the beaches. Many beaches, such as Kuta,

people around the world like watching those dance. The famous of Bali can be seen in words. We
have to visit and enjoy the Bali Island once minimally during our whole life. If we dont do that,
our whole life wont be completed. Those words show how famous Bali Island is.

Accidents are very common in big cities as there are many modes of transport and road are
narrow and over crowded. We hear of them and read about them in newspapers almost daily.
Such accidents often result in lose of life and material. These are caused by the carelessness of
the drivers and their ignorance and negligence of the traffic rules.
Once, my brother and I decided to see a film at Golcha cinema at Daryaganj in Delhi. As we
were getting late for the show, we began walking faster along the crowded road. All of a sudden
there was a loud noise. I saw a man rolling on the ground He was knocked down by a car. The
driver was driving it at a normal speed. He saw a lorry coming from the opposite direction It was
being driven rashly. The car driver feared a collision. He tried to turn the vehicle aside, but his
clutch wire broke and the machine got out of his control. It ran into a passerby and hit the
pavement.
The man was seriously wounded. He sustained injuries on the head and face. His nose was
bleeding and his leg was badly bruised.
A crowd gathered on the spot. The wounded man was removed to a nearby hospital. Some
people started abusing and hitting the car driver. Someone tried to convince them that it was not
his fault. It was just an accident.
Luckily the victim was declared out of danger. His wounds were dressed and he was advised to
rest in bed to get over the shock.

The police also arrived at the place of accident. The car driver and the lorry driver were taken to
the police station. Their statements were recorded. The car driver was let off but the lorry driver
detained.

THE TSUNAMI DISASTER.

Impact of the tsunami. Destruction on the human mankind.
Economy
A lot of building, house damage, boats and other vehicles destroy. People homeless and they
have to live in other place. The government have to spend a lot of money to rebuild the damage
area that cause by the tsunami. The victims of the disaster also lost their belongings and job (e.g.
fishermen) and at the same time it also affected the economy that based on the aquaculture. The
tourism sector also will be affected because most of the people will think twice to go to the
effected area such as Phuket, Thailand and this can influence the economy development because
some of the country depends on the tourism sector to stabilise their economy.
Health
The PBB scientist alert that the epidemic disease will occur and spreads to the unaffected area.
Starvation due to the lack of food and medicine causing malnutrition. Some of the medicine
cannot reach certain area because of the lost connection. Many of the death body are not well
manageable because they are many dead bodies. Because of that, this dead body contaminated
the air and water. This can caused disease such cholera and malaria. The hospital facilities also
destroyed and it will make the situation become worse.
Education.
Most of the students cannot attend to their school because their school was affected by the
tsunami tragedy. They had lost their school so how they want to continue their studies in this
short period of time? Most of the students will be left behind in their studies because they had to
delay their studies until their schools are completely rebuilt. For the teacher they had to do more
works and try their best to cope with some of the syllabus.

Our planets atmosphere is warming up rapidly. Researchers are certain that emissions from
human activities have caused this unnatural change. Using the latest computer models, their
forecast are worrisome of what might global warming mean to our planet. Fortunately, everyone
can be a part of the solution in slowing down global waming. It requires strong commitment
from big corporations down to everyday people. This combined effort can make a significant
difference.
All of us can play vital part of the climate change solution. As a citizen, you can ensure that
governments recognize the importance of global warming and follow through on their promises.
As a consumer, you can support companies that are making the biggest strides in fighting climate
change and encourage other companies to make reducing greenhouse gases a priority. If youre
really passionate about having your voice heard, you might even want to consider joining a
group dedicated to spreading the word about global warming. You can also make many changes
in your daily life some that seem small, some less so that cut back on the carbon emissions for
which youre responsible. Youre probably already familiar with many of the little steps you can
take to be more climate friendly:
Making your home more energy efficient: Better insulate your roof, basement, and walls; seal
your windows; and replace your old light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs.
Reducing the amount of garbage you produce: Take a reusable bag with you when you shop, buy
unpackaged goods, and recycle and reuse materials.
Using energy wisely: Turn off lights and appliances when youre not using them, use the air
conditioner less in the summer, and turn down the heat in the winter.

The use of games for children and adults alike are a great way to improve a great number of
mental and physical skills, and often bring with them a lot of significant benefits. Games have a
far greater educational influence than most people are aware of. Many children with
developmental disabilities, who don't normally seem to react to their environments are often
completely transformed when playing games.
Games have a great impact on sensory perception at a number of different levels. For example: A
baseball player learns to process very quickly that the ball is coming toward him, or that he is in
danger of being tagged, or that it is his turn; or that he hears the footstep behind him, or his name
or number called, a touch on his shoulder, the person's senses are stimulated so the person can
recognize and respond to all the things going on around them. With practice, the clumsy
awkward body becomes agile and expert; a child who tumbles down today won't tumble down
next week. We're never too old to improve our physical ability to respond to sensory stimuli and
games are a great way to help us does that.

Games also contribute a great deal to social development. Many kids, because of problems at
home, shyness or physical disability find it hard to react with others. Some adults can't either,
and nothing places one at a greater disadvantage in a business or social setting. Many
developmental studies show that children that are normally withdrawn for whatever reasons,
have shown a lot of improvement in their ability to cooperate with playmates, and have even
increased their popularity among their playmates because of skills brought about by playing
games. Tests done with shy adults have had similar results.
Games teach children to follow certain limits and levels of self-control. A child who has to take
his turn will think more carefully about his turn. A game that requires taking turns is a great way
to focus attention, since a player constantly has to readjust plans based on others' actions.
The as children grow older, their play becomes more complicated, and requires increasingly
more social skills. Games for children should have very few restrictions; but as players grow
older, the games have more rules and regulations appear. These require even greater self-control.
Rules like waiting one's turn, and not starting over the line in race until the signal is given require
a lot of mental and physical control.
What better way to teach a child self control and moral reasoning? When engaged in a game, the
child has to learn that even in the emotional excitement of an intense game or close race, he or
she has to observe rules and regulations; to choose between fair or unfair, and to act on those
choices appropriately.
If children develop a sense of fair play early on, and engage in activities that reinforce these
values, it can only be a good thing for the community at large.

The Importance of Recycling

Have you ever wonder what can you do about the bottles and cans you find around you? People
that doesn?t care about the world being clean is littering the place. It makes things very difficult
to put up for. Recycling cans and bottles can help save the earth form waste and trash buildup
and can make new things. I think that recycling should be mandatory and there should be
recycling cans in various locations at school and everywhere else.
One reason is that recycling can help save the earth from waste and trash build-up. For example,
fifty percent of roofing and construction on houses is made from recycled aluminum cans. Using

recycled materials to produce new products costs less money and less energy than new materials.
It can also save valuable landfill space. People have trash everyday. Pretty much anything is
recyclable. If you throw them away, it?s a waste of natural resources, a waste of energy, and a
waste of money. Instead people should take the time collect these things and put some effort into
helping in the world we live in.
If you are desperately trying to find a way to make money, recycling can solve that problem.
You?ll be paid back for the effort. You can earn money from recycling. Many recycling centers
pay CRV for cans and bottles. Many people wouldn?t want to miss out on a moneymaking
opportunity. It?s a good way of fundraising, too.
Most importantly, it saves lives. We should all learn the importance of recycling. For example,
some sea lions won?t get stuck in plastics if we recycle. We would also breathe better air. We can
recycle and aluminum can and put it back on the shelf for something useful. If we just leave it in
the landfill, it?ll decompose and it?ll be of no use. It?ll also reduce pollution or else it?ll make a
new one. Recycling can benefit us.
I think that recycling should be mandatory so the world can be a cleaner and better place to live.
Recycling can help save the earth from overload of cans and bottles, save lives, and people can
earn some extra money from recycling. Start saving your cans and bottles. One can makes all the
difference. Start a recycling program today. In fact, it should be made into a new law. We can
help build a better world.

Looking for a good place to settle is not easy like you finish your homework or your job. I lived
in countryside until 12, and then my family moved to a big city. Thus, I have experienced the
conflicting living in countryside and a big city. By comparing and contrasting my own
experience living in countryside and one in a big city, I would prefer someday to live in a big
city because of the modern life, high education, and good health care.
First of all, living in a big city is more modern than one in countryside. In countryside, the life is
very peaceful and safe. For example, people living in countryside don't have to worry much
about how their life looks. They just go to work and make enough money to support their family.
Also, everything in countryside seems to be quiet, and the neighborhood is very friendly and
generous, too. They can share each other everything such as fruits, foods, and clothing.
Therefore, people can enjoy themselves without annoying from anything. Besides, nobody can
deny the fresh air in countryside. The less transportation and more places such as parks and
gardens make countryside become more peaceful and healthy.
Although living in a big city is not peaceful and quiet like living in countryside, people feel more
comfortable and convenient. For instance, if you want to go somewhere or to save your money
from gasoline, there are lots of public transportations such as the bus, railroad, and train which
are always available to support people. Additionally, a big city is often a place where many

problems like robbery, violation, rape, etc... occur mostly in a city, but the security is always
available and ready to solve any problem. On the contrary, people living in countryside lack of
this service; for example, if they are in danger, who will be there to save them immediately? The
security has to spend at least a half an hour to be there, I guess. In short, living in countryside is
more peaceful and none-stressful, but people living a big city usually have enough supporting
services for them.
The second obvious reason why I prefer to live in a big city is the high education. Everyone
wants to have a good job to get more money, and one of the best ways to succeed is education.
Nowadays there are a lot of famous universities and colleges, and these schools totally locate in a
big city. Most of people try to attend these schools to gain their knowledge, so they tend to move
and live in a big city. Also, education in a big city supports the high technology that helps
students and teachers easily have a successful academic. For example, the increase in the
libraries, laps, internet, etc... helps students get information anytime they want.
On the contrary, education in countryside is a serious problem. High school graduation rates in
countryside are always lower than one in a big city. Many people would think that since the
students are not intelligent, the graduation rates are low. Nevertheless, it is not true in this case.
Students living in countryside are even more diligent than ones in a big city because there is less
entertainment center for them, so the only thing student should do is to do their homework.
However, just a few students succeed in countryside. The reason must be the lack of good
education. The schools didn't support enough reference books in the library, computers, or even
good teachers. These lead to why people living in a big city gain more knowledge than ones in
countryside.
The last reason I choose to live in a big city is about health care. Nowadays in countryside,
government established more health care such as the hospital, clinic, and medical station, and
people can get there easily and quickly when they are in trouble. However, what people really
need is not the number of health care, but the quality of it. For instance, if you are staying at
home, and your heart attack is suddenly relapsed, I bet the health care will take long to put you in
a hospital. Also, the countryside hospitals can't be sure whether or not they can rescue you
because of the lack of the high and modern medical machines. The result is eventually that you
still need to be transferred to a big modern hospital in a big city.
A big city is not only a big modern city originally but also a face of a country, so government
always supports the best ways and medical services for people. For example, if a country is
suffered by a spreading virus such as the swine flu, I believe that people living in a big city will
be able to get the vaccine first. Besides, there are many modern medical machines and good
doctors that can easily determine what disease a patient gets and then expose the best ways to
solve it. All of the reasons about health care above can help us understand how well the health
care in a big city is.
In conclusion, people have their own choices to decide to live in countryside or a big city. As I
can see, most of old people probably tend to live in countryside because they like to have
peaceful life and enjoy themselves with the fresh air and quietness. However, other people want

their own life comfortable and convenient. For me or even my future family, I would prefer to
live in a big city because of the modern life, high education, and good health care.
