Objetivos y Competencias a Desarrollar /
Objectives and Skills to be Acquired

The educational methodology proposed for this course rests upon the following
formative actions:
Lectures: the instructor will lecture theoretical classes where the basic
concepts of each lesson will be presented to the students. These lectures
will be complemented with a system of personal tutorship (the schedules
for office hours will be announced by the instructor).
Commentaries and discussion of problems and case studies: As the different topics are presented, there will be an specific session where readings and real case studies and problems will be reviewed and commented
by the students. Students summaries of the readings, discussion of real
case studies and problems, as well as the presentation of their team
work, will take place in several seminars that will be announced.
Presentation of team works: for this activity, students (organized in
teams up to three people) will have to discuss in further depth some of
the topics selected by the instructor. These works jointly prepared by
the students will be presented in several workshops to encourage group
discussion and raise comments and suggestions from classmates.

This course has a total work load for the student of 4 credits ECTS. In hours,
this means that the student should devote 100 working hours throughout the
semester. The distribution of activities is as follows:
-

There will be two ways of evaluation depending on the students selected profile: Professional or research oriented.
Initially, there will be an ongoing assessment, that when completed in a satisfactory way allows the student to pass the course, and that is based on individual activities related to the content of the lectures, i.e. solving practical problems, summarizing and commenting readings and case studies, as well as team
work assigments.
Secondly, and considering the two profiles mentioned above, those students
choosing the professional track (including professional internships in the third
semester), must elaborate a case study related to competition policy. Conversely, those students choosing the research track (including research workshops in the third semester) must pass a written examination on the contents
of the course.

The final grade will be based on both the ongoing assessment as well as the
complementary case study or the written examination.
