your tax burden.
Reverse mortgage
funds are non-taxable
so they are a great

Social Security.

big-ticket items like a

a new roof, a kitchen
remodel or new
bedroom furniture.
Use it to fund your
bigger one-time
expenses like a trip

The Fruitvale school was built in 1889 and still serves as a learning center. Middle: Lyndell Grey serves as the president of the Fruitvale
Association. Lower: The teachers desk is complete with an apple, bell and swatting paddle.
The district was eager to get rid of the school. The alumni paid $100 for it and the school then became a community center.
Little has been done to the school since it was built in
1889. The first remodeling came in the 1970s when the
alumni group converted the coat room into a kitchen.
Then about eight years ago, the Good Sam Club put
in new bathrooms and a handicap ramp on the building,
Grey said.

The Fruitvale school class in 1933, with 48 students from various ethnicities, Portuguese, Danish, Japanese, Italian, British, German, Swedish, French and Spanish. Today the building has community events as well as after-school programs.
And the second classroom was slipping off its foundation. That
was fixed, too. It got a new foundation.
Today, the Fruitvale School is still in the education business.
There are after-school programs, tutors on-hand, ranch camps,
agriculture programs, as well as barbecues and community events.
The facility is also available to rent for private functions and club

The Daetwilers are, from left, Jason, Eliana, Shannan and Jonas, opened Simply Nutrition, a health food store in Twelve Bridges.
After graduating college, I went on to work in various retail establishments. I was a manager with Macys, worked in product procurement for
an online retailer, and the last nine years in the health-and-wellness industry as a representative of various brands helping other health food stores
build their business, Daetwiler said.
After aiding other retailers grow their business and numerous travel
miles, the time had come for Daetwiler to start her own health food store.

We are now seeing an average of 200 customers a week. We are growing each week and month
with the wonderful support of the community,
Daetwiler said.
the community is winning the 2016 Best of The Best award for Best
Health and Nutrition Store in June, just a few months after opening.
This award is chosen by the readers of The Lincoln News Messenger.
When customers walk into Simply Nutrition many are amazed
by the selection of merchandise. Among the products that line
the shelves are: Vitamins, herbs, protein, probiotics, enzymes, fiber,
greens, homeopathy, essential oils, personal care, gluten-free snacks
and so much more.
Bone Broth Protein is very popular right now for its many benefits including high amounts of protein, naturally occurring L-glutamine and collagen which are great for gut, immune systemand skin
health, Daetwiler said. We also make sure to find unique and niche
products that will keep you excited to try new things.
One of those products is Fire Cider. This apple cider with a kick
has become a best-selling product at the store. Chalk full of beneficial goodness, the raw apple cider vinegar is laced with turmeric,
habanera, garlic, ginger, citrus, onions, horseradish, and raw honey.
It is great as a daily tonic for your overall well-being, allergies,
digestive system and immune health, Daetwiler said.
Meeting customers needs and wants has been the roots of Simply
Nutrition. The moto of the store is Keeping Good Health Simple.
Not only do we offer high-quality products at competitive pricing, Daetwiler said. We want our customers to be happy with their
purchase and with their experience every time they are in Simply
Nutrition.
She stresses the importance of listening carefully to customers as
their most valuable service.
Another wellness trend that has been around of a long time but
is now regaining momentum is plant medicine through essential oils.
We have an amazing selection of 100 percent pure and organic oils,
she said.
With one of the largest selections of essential oils in the area
more than 100, Daetwiler recommends smelling them to let your
nose tell you what your body needs. Some of the more basic oils
stocked are lavender, eucalyptus, grapefruit and peppermint, but
there are also more exotic oils such as, frankincense, holy basil, vetiver, turmeric, myrrh, and helichrysum.
Unlike most health food stores that offer senior discounts only
one day a week, Simply Nutrition offers senior day every day. Customers 55 and older are offered 15 percent off non-sale items.
A quick look at customer reviews show that Simply Nutrition
lives up to its standards in quality products and dedication to customer service.
Top: Jason and Shannan Daetwiler received an award for Best Health and Nutrition
store, as voted by the readers of the Lincoln News Messenger.
