How To Delete Saved Form Data In Firefox One Value At A

Time
Posted on June 1st, 2007 in Everyday Tips, Web Development | 10 Comments
As we all know, Firefox will save the values you type in a form. Then, Firefox will provide a drop down
list of previously entered values for form fields that you have completed and submitted in the past. Today,
I mistyped my username in a form causing Firefox to store an incorrect value in my form history. So
every time I go to enter my username, the wrong username shows up in my drop down list. After much
searching, I have finally discovered how to delete individual values from the saved form history in
firefox. No extension or anything is required.
Heres what you do:
1. Navigate Firefox to the form containing the field that has a saved value that you want to delete.
2. Click on the text field to that your cursor is in the text field with the value you want to delete.
3. Press the down arrow on your keyboard until the bad value is highlighted.
4. Press Shift+Delete together and the value will be removed from the saved form history.
This discovery has brought me much joy as, previously, the only way I knew to get rid of a saved form
value was to delete my entire form history. Now you can delete values one at a time.

I once found a tip on where the file is that Firefox uses to hold this information and deleted it- but
can not find it again.
