The effective functioning of any organizations is based on how well various


business components (Mission, strategy, structure, processes, and outcomes) are
interlinked and controlled. Micro-OB (OB I) deals with the dynamics of

Basic understanding of OB

individual and group behaviour within organization. While, Macro-OB ( II)


focuses whole organization, how they adapt, and the strategies and structures
that guide them. Therefore, it important to understand the role of each
components in attaining organizational excellence. Moreover, organizational
effectiveness cannot be understood in isolation and must take into account the
organizations context. One major element of organizational context is the
national culture and culture differs across nations. Therefore, it is crucial for
students to understand role and importance of these factors for better
performance and sustainability.

This course will enable you to understand the


Role of vision, mission, and strategy in building a lasting organization that creates
value by being aligned to the external environment
To examine the reciprocal relationship between the organisational characteristics
(for example : structure, strategies, processes etc.) and managerial behaviour
Understand behaviours for effective leadership and conflict management styles
Organizational culture and ways to build and strengthen for organizational
effectiveness
Organizational change and possible ways to measure organizational performance

Teaching
Methods

The course will be covered by classroom lectures augmented by case


studies & experiential exercises. To maintain active involvement &
interest of the class, Group Exercises, Discussions & Quizzes too shall
be conducted.

Expectatio

students

Students are expected to attend all the sessions and supposed to


come prepared with pre-readings, additional readings and cases etc.
I believe in student focused learning, therefore, active involvement of
the participants is necessary.

Academic
Standard
and
Honesty

Students are expected to comply with the academic standards with


right spirit and intent. Casual attire such as wearing shorts etc.,
eating and drinking, late coming is not allowed. Students should
avoid cheating, plagiarism, falsification of academic material,
misrepresentation of documents, selling and purchasing of academic
assignments, violating IPR and copyright, distributing/sharing reading
material with outsiders. If a student indulges in malpractice
(cheating, plagiarizing, and misrepresentation) in any of the
academic activities, s/he shall be liable for punitive action as
prescribed by the institute from time to time.

Group Assignment Criterion


An assignment must reflect your understanding and contribution towards the topic. Each group
would work on different topics (It will be announced by Instructor). Contemporary cases/articles
may be added or replaced during the course. Tentatively, the group size will follow the pattern of
11x7 that is 11 groups and 7 members in each group (minor adjustments in the group size is
permitted). For group presentation the deck size should not exceed 15 including reference. Group
will be allowed to present their work for 15 Minutes followed by question and answer session of
05 Minutes. Group assignment shall be strictly submitted on the day of group presentation of the
respective group.
Assessment Criterion for Group Presentation is indicated below
