The Emberleaf Family Line

The Emberleaf family is a prominent noble family of elves in Fusokai, being high
commanders and active politicians in the realm. The Emberleaf family has a long history, being
one of the older families in Fusokai. They have held the lands in the Emberleaf forest long
enough that no one remembers if they got their name from the forest or if it was the other way
around. The family has sired many heroes old, from dragon slayers to master mages, from crafty
diplomats to ferocious generals, all under the Emberleaf family crest. The Emberleaf family is a
relatively small noble family, consisting of only 4 bloodlines. The true Elven Emberleaf line
holds the property in the Emberleaf forest, controlling the majority of the land and the most
political power. The Elven Alderbrash family is a slightly smaller branch of the bloodline,
focusing more on the military power. The Elven Crisenstoc family is the wealthiest of the
families, controlling a small number of very prosperous ports on the coast. The last is the mixed
human elf bloodline of the Amberleaf family, known only for their bloodstained history and
legendary bardic capabilities.
The Amberleaf family can be directly tied to a single member of the Emberleaf family,
Craeso Emberleaf, who was born an approximate 2,500 before the Sardian timeline. Craeso was
an incredibly unorthodox Elf, being drawn to the more unbecoming arts like bardic practices and
participating in unseemly behavior. Being fed up with his act, the Emberleaf elders ordered him
to stop his insolent behavior and return the conservative life they lived or face excommunication.
Craeso was incredibly strong willed, so he declined the invitation and went out on countless
adventures, gaining fame fortune and skill along the way. He gained the name Amberleaf in
correspondence with a red hunting cap he always wore when out and about in the country. As he
travelled, he grew into a very successful bard and adventurer whose stories were told at taverns
across the land. His success away from the Emberleaf name made the true blood Emberleafs
incredibly angry since Craeso spread the word of the terrible treatment he received at the
hands of the Emberleafs because he was different from them.
Craeso eventually settled down with the daughter of small town alchemist along the
eastern coast of the continent, starting a family and becoming a well respected member of the
town. Being the only elf, Craeso lived longer than the rest of the townsfolk, wife and children,
meaning that he was alive well after a few generations. As head of the Amberleaf family, Craeso
held the most sway over the family politics and decided that no matter who married whom, the
name Amberleaf would be taken by anyone who married into the family. Fed up with his
insubordination, stubbornness, and nerve to marry and reproduce with a human, the Emberleaf
family sent a death squad of the most elite fighters from within the family to kill Craeso, his
family and then burn the town to the ground.

Craeso by then was not just a well respected bard, but a legendary one at that. By the time
the dust had settled and the King had intervened, the conflict had consumed the lives of 48
members of the Emberleaf family including Craeso and countless human lives since Craeso and
his family put up more of a fight than just 10 Elvish Generals could handle on their own. Only
one line of humans from the Amberleaf family had survived the 50 year war waged between the
family. Once the conflict was resolved, they fled beyond the border to the settlement lands and
were not seen again for another 500 years.
The first Amberleaf to make it back to the known world was Ergrea Amberleaf, the
Singing Panther. Ergrea was the first legendary bard from the Amberleaf family and solidified
their bloodline as one that sires incredibly talented bards. She first arrived in Farleyume 700
years before the Sarden timeline, taking the adventuring guilds by storm. She refused to work
with any low ranked adventurers, giving her a stuck up and cocky reputation at first. After she
completed 10 assignments that would normally take a few months in a mere 28 days, she began
to turn heads and gain respect within the adventuring community. Once accepted into a party of
more skilled adventurers, Ergreas reputation skyrocketed as people began to see how strong she
actually was. Her Siren's Dervish combo was notorious for allowing her to move incredibly
quickly and deliver fatal blows to an entire room of enemies before the party could even begin to
comprehend what had happened. Her skill culminated when the King of Fusokai officially
recognized her as a descendant of Craeso Amberleaf, giving her both status among the elites of
Fusokai and then appointing her to his royal guard as the first ever human guardswoman.
The next Amberleaf to make it into the history books was Kalder Amberleaf, Ergreas
son. Offended by the Kings decision to recognize Ergrea as nobility, the Emberleaf family had
her assassinated 10 years after the decision. By then, Kalder had become quite the bard himself,
taking part in adventuring quests all throughout the land. At the news of his mother's death at the
hands of the Emberleafs, he called upon his human adventuring companions to support him in
avenging his mother, who had been an inspiration to humans all throughout the land. The war
that followed was known as the War of Burning Forests and would only last 15 years but would
consume the lives of thousands of elves, most of them Emberleafs or close relatives. Kalder and
his band of probably 20 skilled human adventurers sought out and killed 7 high ranking
Emberleaf figures and burned down a large part of the Emberleaf forest. The Red Hats, as they
were known by for they all wore red hunting caps like Kalders ancestor Craeso would, clashed
with Emberleaf soldiers as often as they could, often leaving the vast majority of their numbers
dead or wounded due to their unorthodox tactics and the fearsome fire magic that Kalder had
learned, earning him the name Blazing Phoenix. The conflict was resolved again by the King,
but by the time the war had ended, the old leaders of the Emberleaf family had all been slain by
the Red Hats, leaving Argraien Emberleaf as the head of Emberleaf estate.
Argraien, being intelligent and willing to put racial pride aside in order to ensure peace in
the kingdom, made an official statement against his own family, claiming the Amberleaf

bloodline as a legitimate bloodline to the Emberleaf name, pardoning them of all crimes against
the house and allowing them to entire the estate as they wished as friends. This statement became
the first of its kind, and pretty much the only one of its kind since most families of nobility did
not interbreed with other races. The Argraien pact of Peaceful coexistence led to a lasting peace
between the Amberleafs and the Emberleafs.
The next line of history is understandable. As the land of Fusokai lay stable, so did the
reputation of the Amberleaf bards. Most of the bards between Kalder and the time of the Fusokai
civil war were just highly reputable bards with no particularly spectacular battle records. When
the country finally divided itself in flames over the conflicts that had been brewing for centuries,
the Amberleaf bards and the Emberleaf house were there on the front lines. The civil war was a
bloody one, being waged mainly between the old blooded Elf families who were resisting the
changes put in place by the newer more progressive young elves the had been gaining more and
more support. Their movements throughout the political landscape had been well observed by
the older faction, but the sudden uprising led by the most vocal of the newer generation of elves,
Fay Delvian. The Emberleaf family, with their new leader Argraien, supported Fay Delvian in his
ambitions to seize the throne, putting a significant amount of power behind the rebellion. Along
with the support of Argraien (who was considered a young royal elf at around 800 years old), the
Amberleaf sent two up and coming stars from their family, Tonda and Rennak Amberleaf. Tonda
and Rennak were twins who specialized in illusionary magic and psychological manipulation,
but at the beginning of the civil war had very little experience fighting and had little to no
reputation. The first moment they were seen by the eyes of both enemy and allies alike was at the
battle of Kyigyune river in the far southern part of Fusokai. Soldiers there said that Rennak stood
with the allies, and Tonda had infiltrated the ranks of the enemies by disguising himself. The
resulting chaos from both a mind altering song from the front and a fury invoking song from the
middle turned the entire approaching phalanx against itself, reducing its numbers to a tiny
fraction of its original size. The Fusokain civil war did not come without its costs, however. At
the end of the war, Tonda lost his life in the battle of Farleyume, where the Progressive forces
had taken the capitol but lay besieged by the current government's forces, pinning down the bulk
of the progressives. In a final act of defiance against the old government and support for the
progressives, Tonda used his life force as a catalyst to call forth the spirit of Kalder Amberleaf in
an attempt to turn the tides of the battle. Kalders spirit, full of the power of Tondas life ended
up burning the majority of the surrounding enemy forces, turning the capitol over to the
progressives. However, this event permanently traumatized Rennak, leaving him almost useless
for the rest of the war. Once Fey Delvian took the throne and calmed the nation, Rennak devoted
his life to the education of younger bards in some of the primary teachings of the Amberleaf
bloodline, founding the Tonda Amberleaf school of Bardic Knowledge. The Tonda School, as it
is refered as, is acknowledged to be the best bardic school in the world, teaching bards from
every background the ways of the Amberleaf family. However, not all of the teachings were
passed on to the school. The Amberleaf family keeps the most powerful and unique spells and
knowledge to itself, ensuring its name as the best Bardic bloodline in the land.

The last of the known great Amberleaf Bards was Helmsman Amberleaf, Soveliss great
grandfather. Known throughout the land as the great Howling Wolf, Helmsman specialized in
huge area control with his signature deafening screech spell. His scream could hold a small army
in fear if hit dead on, or could lock down fleeing opponents at a longer range. Helmsman rose to
fame in the the bloody border skirmishes on the Eastern Fusokain border, near the Amberleafss
secret household. Leading a ragtag team of militiamen, Helmsman fought back against the
ambitious adjacent nation that had gotten a little too aggressive with their claims to land. This act
in his late twenties caught the attention of Fey Delvian, who then awarded a medal of honor to
Helmsman and placed him in the royal guard in Farleyume. While in Farleyume, Helmsmans
fame continued to grow since his ability to learn new spells and tactics seemed limitless, quickly
branding him as a skilled general and even more skilled warrior. At the age of 47, Helmsman was
put in charge of the coalition force put together by Fusokai and the lands of Arkitet to push back
the demon forces in the Western expanses. Helmsman brought his 24 year old son Bresh with
him along with the most skilled of the royal guard and a number of footsoldiers to Arkitet, where
the battle of the western expanse raged for several years. In that time however, Bresh was slain
on a reconnaissance mission by Quitolo himself, forever injuring Helmsmans heart. The war
was a success, but not without the cost of many soldiers and Helmsmans son, from which he
never recovered and died a war hero in his home back in Fusokai.
Bresh, however, left a young daughter with his lover back in Fusokai. That girl would
later grow to become the mother of Soveliss Amberleaf and would caution him to never become
a bard to avoid the fate that had befallen her father. However, Soveliss was determined to
become a legendary bard in the name of his fallen grandfather and bring more respect to his
family. Soveliss spent many years both at the Tonda School, the Emberleaf estate, and at the
Amberleaf Homestead in the Eastern frontier of Fusokai, studying the art of the bard. With his
skills growing and his curiosity peaked, Soveliss ventured off to Arkitet in order to pursue the
knowledge that lie hidden on the vast continent. His heroic adventures were cut short by the
brutal slaughter of his first adventuring party by a small colony of mind flayers, where he was
the only member strong enough to resist their magic and live. This was only the first occasion
where Soveliss fell into the wrong group of adventurers. Surrounded by mediocre heroes,
Soveliss acquired a peculiar reputation of being the only one to ever survive a mission given to
him, which was no fault of his own. His skills were already fabulous amongst the bardic
community, but that did not stop the taunts and rumors to spread and hurt him, leaving him
unstable and friendless in Arkitet. His track record did bring him some merit, for he was always
able to complete the missions given to him and bring back some sense of completion.
Soveliss, despite his older age amongst adventurers, still searches for his prime. He has
been putting countless hours into the research of the old gods and the barons, searching for a way
to connect the twos power into a hybrid of both divine and demonic magic. Soveliss has been,
over a large expanse of time in Arkitet, amassed some knowledge of the subject from the ancient
ruins of the Fuushruon. His research has come to a stop, since he is not proficient with the

language they spoke, but has be has not faltered. He searches for one of the few who can read the
ancient language to teach him so he may continue his studies further.
