BRAINMESH INTER-UNIVERSITY 2016

INTER-COLLEGIATE MECHANICAL ENGINEERING QUIZ SHOW

BrainMEsh Inter-University 2016 (BMU) is an inter-collegiate National Mechanical
Engineering Quiz Competition where teams of three will solve and analyze questions that
shall measure their knowledge in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Questions designed to
test their knowledge in the different topics ranging from basic engineering science to power
plant engineering. The event aims to gauge the capability and academic excellence of
Mechanical Engineering majors from different institutions and challenge themselves in a
competitive environment.
Our organization would like to invite you to be part of this great competition. Attached here
are the guidelines, rules, and mechanics, as well as the waiver and registration forms
needed.
Please do not hesitate to forward questions to our Communications officers. If you have any

6. Participants, walk-ins and alternates included, MUST present proofs of enrolment
from their respective colleges/universities.
7. Participants are requested to wear their school uniform or any recognized school
shirts. They MUST bring and wear their IDs.
8. In an unfortunate case that a pre-registered participant is unable to come at the day
of the event, given that he/she has a valid reason, the alternate will be allowed as
replacement. In the case that there is NO pre-registered alternate, one (1) alternate
per team will be allowed to register as WALK-IN participant at the day of the event.
The alternate is required to present all proofs stated above during registration.

II. PRE-REGISTRATION
1. Registration will end on August 26, 2016 at 5:00pm. All necessary documents and
payments (75%) shall be submitted on or before this date. (Please see
Communications and Registration for the format).
2. Maximum number of three (3) teams per school may register during the preregistration period.
3. FULL PAYMENT shall be settled on or before September 16, 2016, 5:00pm else
slots reserved for your school will be purged.
III. WALK-INS
1. Any submission later than September 16, 2016, 5:00pm will be tagged as walk-in;
they must submit the roster of participants on or before September 16, 2016.

Only the three (3) team members are required to take the exam.
Team score will be the total of the scores of its three individual members.
All calculators are required to be reset before starting the exam.
All questionnaires MUST be returned at the end of the exam.
The TOP TWELVE highest scoring teams will advance to the Semi-Final Phase and
will be announced in the afternoon.

B. SEMIFINAL PHASE
1. Team scores will start from zero, and all team members shall work as a group.
2. This phase will consist of three rounds: EASY, AVERAGE, and DIFFICULT.
Questions will be taken at random from the list of categories. Each question will be
read TWICE by the Quiz Master.

the time allotment, level of difficulty and point designation. Each question will be read
only ONCE by the Quiz Master.
5. Complete answers (neatly written and with proper units) must be written on each
teams designated answer board. Wrong spelling is considered incorrect. Illegible
writing will be considered incorrect upon the discretion of the judges.

6. The team who answers the question correctly will get the privilege of choosing the
next category. If none of the teams got the correct answer, the category will be
chosen randomly.
