Read aloud these conversations:

Ilan: Id just like to introduce myself. My names Ilan Zagoria


and Im the new export sales co-ordinator.
Tony: Oh, yes. Ive heard of you. Im Tony Watson.
Ilan: Did you have a good journey?
Tony: Yes, thanks, I had a very good flight.

Ms. Smith: Well, Merciaca, Id like you to meet Ms. Jones. Ms.
Jones, this is Paul Merciaca, hes our import manager.
Paul: How do you do.
Ms. Jones: How do you do, Mr. Merciaca.
Paul: Nice to meet you, Ms. Jones. Is this your first visit to
Rome?
Ms. Jones: No, this is my second visit. Ive been here once
before.

Read this passage:


In business, people have to deal in person with all kinds of
people: colleagues or co-workers, superiors or subordinates,
clients, suppliers, visitors etc. These people may be friends,
acquaintances or strangers, people of your own age, or people who
are younger or older than you. The relationship with a person
determines the kind of language you use. Remember also that your
body language and gestures may tell people more about you than
the words you use.
