is a collection of related web
pages containing images, videos or other digital assets. A
website is hosted on at least one web server, accessible
via a network such as the Internet or a private local area
network through an Internet address known as a Uniform
Resource Locator. All publicly accessible websites
collectively constitute the World Wide Web.

What is a Web Page ?


A web page or webpage is a document or
information resource that is suitable for the World Wide
Web and can be accessed through a web browser and displayed
on a monitor or mobile device. This information is usually
in HTML format.

What is a Web Server ?


A web server is a computer that stores websites on the Internet
and delivers web pages to viewers upon request. This service is
referred to as web hosting. Every web server has a unique
address, called an Internet Protocol address, that tells other
computers connected to the Internet where to find the server
on the vast network.

Web server can refer to either the hardware (the computer) or


the software (the computer application) that helps to deliver
content that can be accessed through the Internet

What's a URL?

A URL is THE address to a website.

URL is an abbreviation of Uniform Resource


Locator, the global address of documents and
other resources on the World Wide Web.

A URL is the address of a file on the Web, such


as http://www.example.com/content/article.html

- Protocol used in the communication between the
browser and the web server.
- 'Protocol' is a set of rules a browser and a web server use

between the protocol and the rest of the web
address, such as the domain name.

3. Forward Slashes (//)- Forward slashes are an initiation for


contact. It tells the web address to achieve
contact with another server.

4. www. - This is the SUBDOMAIN.

5. example.com - is the DOMAIN NAME (or host).

6. content - is the DIRECTORY on the web server where


the file is stored.
7. article.html - is the FILE itself.

The acronym "http" stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol.

FTP is most commonly used to download a file from a


server using the Internet or to upload a file to a server
(e.g., uploading a Web page file to a server).
The World Wide Web (abbreviated as WWW or W3 and commonly
known as the Web) is a system of interlinked hypertext documents
accessed via the Internet. With a web browser, one can view web
pages

images,
videos,
and
other multimedia and navigate between them via hyperlinks.
