Growing Deeply

Sunday Sermon

a daily scripture guide

Week of August 22 - August 27

Giving Change - August 21

Scripture: Luke 16:10-13 (NRSV)

MONDAY: Luke 16:10-13 Happy and poor

This week I heard someone say at my poorest, I was happiest and most
generous. Have you ever experienced having little? What were you like then?
PRAYER: May I be faithful over the little in my life. Little money, little
patience, little resources, little time
TUESDAY: Luke 16:10-13 More money means more of everything
So often the messages we hear profess that if we get more, well be more of
everything positive. However, more also calls us to have more responsibility,
sometime even more worry.
PRAYER: More doesnt mean better. Help me stay open to learning how wealth
can be a blessing to me and others and teach me to be one who can manage
the more that comes with it.

Whoever is faithful in very little is faithful also in much; and whoever is dishonest
in very little is dishonest also in much. If then you have not been faithful with the
dishonest wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? And if you have not been
faithful with what belongs to another, who will give you what is your own? No slave
can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or
be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

My Notes:

WEDNESDAY: Luke 16:10-13 For the love of money

The OJays singing group sang dont let money change you.
PRAYER: Lord, I pray for integrity in all things, but especially in the handling
of your money. Remind me when I get puffed up or stingy due to holding too
tightly to what youve blessed me with.
THURSDAY: Luke 16:10-13 Whos in charge
You cannot serve both God and wealth
CONSIDER: The last three big decisions you made: what drove your final
decisions?
FRIDAY: Luke 16:10-13 Credit
Here soon you will be hearing about Financial Peace University, a program
designed to teach you to live debt free and build wealth. Sometimes we dont
have the money and we borrow it.
CONSIDER: How does credit impact you?
SATURDAY: Luke 16:10-13 Extravagant generosity
As we are faithful of little, we have opportunity to have morenot just for
ourselves but for others.
PRAYER: I desire to go over and beyond in my giving and sharing my resources.
