Part 1: Assessment Technology

The assessment I created is for second grade students, whom I plan to teach in the future. The
assessment was created on www.socrative.com , but unfortunately I was unable to launch the
quiz. In which, I was able to provide a copy of the short assessment. It was a summative
assessment that was created, pertaining to capitalization. It is part of the Texas Essential
Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Grade 2- 110.13 English language Arts and Reading:
Capitalization 2.22 B. After students take this short assessment, I will use the data results to
make any adjustments that may need to be made. For example, if many students did not get a
certain question or questions correct, I will focus more on the determined area. Below is a copy

of the assessment, as well as the answer key.

Part 2: Blog Post

As teachers teach children, our future; it is really important that one learns how to use
technology, and how one can implement it for current use as well as future use. One should
remain updated with the different uses of how one can benefit from using technology. It is great
that technology is used to support assessment of comprehensive classroom technology plan. In
which, I would like to use technology implementation with formative and summative
assessments. Technology is on the constant move, it keeps advancing every day, and people seem
to be fascinated with the different uses of it.
Technology to Facilitate Ongoing Efforts to Assess Student Learning
Technology has really evolved over the years. Students in current day have the advantage
to learn more conveniently and quicker by using different forms of technology. Teaching and
learning are becoming more convenient, with the new technology tools that one can use.
Office 365
Microsoft Office 365 is similar to the basic Microsoft Office, although it is strictly for
students, faculty, and staff. In which they would use their email addresses to sign up. After
signing up, students and teachers will be able to get started with Office 365 right away. This
would be a good software program for teachers to collaborate with one another. Also to help
students with organizing information, creating work assignments digitally.
Classroom Web Page
Teachers, students, and parents can stay informed and in contact with one another through
a classroom Web page. A teacher can have a classroom Web page where helpful resources are
provided to help students with certain content areas. Teachers can also provide important due
dates of assignments and provide a rubric of how the assignment will be graded. Also, the

classroom Web page can have a Blog section, where teachers, parents, and students are able to
communicate with one another online or post any questions or concerns one may have.
Google Docs Google Docs is actually not a software program that one needs to have
installed on ones computer. As long as one is able to have Web access, one is able to access,
adjust, and share the document created through Google Docs with anyone whom has Web access.
This is a very convenient program for anybody to use, and the greatest thing, is that it allows
access from anywhere, as long as one can get online. Google Docs provides many uses. One is
able to create, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, drawings, and Web forms
(www.coolheadtech.com/blog/4-core-benefits-of-google-docs) .
(Formative and Summative Assessments)
Technology use in summative assessments seem to have the upper hand over formative
assessments. The technologies that support the formative assessment are advancing more slowly

complicated for formative assessments to be created because these kind of assessments are
distributed out of the ordinary, so one can determine comprehension of the other.
(Pros and Cons of using Technology to Facilitate Assessment)
Technology use to facilitate assessment has pros and cons. The convenience of technology gives
teachers more time to develop other ideas to use with their students. Also it is easy for a teacher
to make adjustments to an old assessment for a new assessment, which also help the teacher save
more time. Teachers are also able to help conserve paper and ink, by displaying information on a
document camera or a Smart Board. On the other hand, the cons of using technology are that

sometimes there may be technical difficulties with the certain tool. In which, it is important to
always have a back up lesson just incase this may occur.

(Should a teacher only use technology to assess student learning? Why or why not?)
A teachers use for technology is not only to assess student learning. It can be used for
other things as well. It is great that technology is able to assess student learning in multiple ways,
but it can also be used as a highly motivating incentive for students.

What is the importance of assessment technology in connection with the ISTE standards?
The importance of assessment technology in connection with the ISTE standard are to
help students learn and practice digital citizenship. One should advocate and practice safe, legal,
and responsible use of information and technology (iste.org/standards).
Concluding Paragraph for Software to Support Assessment
Technology has many beneficial uses, but technology to support assessment of the
comprehensive classroom technology plan is something that an instructor should ensure an idea
of development.
