London South Bank Innovation Centre


The London South Bank Innovation Centre (LSBIC) is a university research centre located at
facilities of TWI Ltd in Cambridge. LSBIC has been created to carry out research and
development in the field of Automation of Non Destructive Testing and associated
technologies. LSBIC has the following objectives:
To create a shared research and technology capability between London South Bank
University and TWI Ltd,
To undertake joint research programmes,
To secure a portfolio of research funding from external sponsors,
To develop the next generation of technologies and engineers.
LSBIC has secured funding from the European Commission and InnovateUK to work with
companies across Europe in the energy, aerospace, construction & engineering sectors.
TWI Ltd and the National Structural Integrity Research Centre (NSIRC)
TWI is one of the world's foremost independent research and technology organisations. TWI
has a long history of invention and innovation and work across industry sectors including Oil
and Gas, Power Generation, Aerospace, Marine and Construction Engineering. TWI are
experts in all aspects of materials joining and related technologies, including NDT and
structural integrity.
The Structural Integrity Research Centre (NSIRC) operates from the premises of TWI Ltd to
provide postgraduate training and research to ensure the structural integrity of safety critical
infrastructure.
Job details
LSBIC is looking to recruit a Project Coordinator with administration duties, as part of its
growing team and portfolio of national and European projects. You will have had proven work
experience in an office environment.
You will work with our research team to perform administrative duties that ensure timely
delivery of project outputs, communicate effectively with consortium members and
stakeholders, maintain project progress reports and project specific websites, and organize
consortium meetings and events to demonstrate project results.
The LSBIC project coordinator role requires:
1. Verbal and written communications with project partners and funding bodies (e.g.
Regional Growth Fund, EPSRC, HEFCE, InnovateUK, EC H2020).
2. Ability to perform administration task effectively e.g. facilitate communications, organise
meetings, minutes taking.
3. Assistance with the preparation and submission of proposals and reports at all stages.
4. Ability to prioritise busy work schedule and adapt to tight deadlines and demanding
work environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required and ability to quickly adapt to a
multinational environment is advantageous.
The ideal candidate will need to be confident in operating Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint,
Project and Outlook, for facilitating project and team operations effectively.
Overall business acumen is considered as an important element of this role and basic skills or
knowledge in business operations are sought after but not essential.
The ideal candidate will be a team player and be prepared to provide support to the team
activities in addition to day to day coordination of high profile collaborative projects and
developments.
Appointment will initially be for a period of two years starting in April 2016.
Successful applicants will be employees of London Southbank University, School of
Engineering but will work in world class facilities at the premises of TWI in Cambridge in close
engagement with the National Structural Integrity Research Centre (NSIRC) based there.
