Strengths of Google Inc.

Search- Google web service provide the facilities given to the people how to find
what they are looking f in the websites. Image search, Google news, blog search,
Google map etc facilities given by the Google .
2. News- Thousands of presents news, thousands of new stories, thousands of
information in a different format, publics on their web page within a minute. On
the home page of Google news page stories are presented in such a way so that
the user can change it according to them. They gather all types of news from the
English language from the world wide. Its a 100% algorithms generated sites and
it is an important source of different media.
3. Communication, Collaboration and Communities- The user can keep track
important event, appointment and special occasion by using Google calendar.
Google calendar is a free online sharable calendar. Google also offer free mail
service like Gmail & social networks like Orkut
4. Google GEO- The specific function of Google is Google earth & Google maps
which provide user with facility to see the location and learn about that area and
they can get the satellite and aerial images from their desktop.
5. Books- Google books provide information to purchase the books online. User can
also read the inside of the book online from the selected books.
6. Videos- Google Video has millions of videos indexed for viewing. In late 2006
the Google acquired YouTube for $1.65 billion. In the YouTube the user can
search and watch the most updated videos.
7. Finance- They provide financial information and news on companies .One of the
feature is also that its sites provide the latest data and latest news from the
financial industry.
8. Photo sharing- Google is having photo sharing option in the Picasa web album.
9. Technology Infrastructure- Google provides services that would not be possible
without their infrastructure, which is what makes Google special. Other
companies cannot compare or rival Google because the competitor would have to
spend billions of dollars building a database that is as technically advanced as
well as eco-friendly as Googles. This gives Google a stable competitive
advantage in whatever market they wish to pursue. Basically, their money and
infrastructure give them an advantage.
10. Innovative Services- Another strength would have to be that Google is very
innovative in everything they offer. They offer over 40 different Google Services
for example; Gmail, Blogger, Google Images, Google News, Google Chrome,
even Google phones. They even acquired other companies expanding their
services even more, for example Youtube. Google is seen as a one stop kind of
website. You can literally almost do anything on google.com now. And Google
offers these services to its consumers with no cost. Competitors cant offer the
same one stop website as Google. This is a big advantage for Google but Google
has to keep the innovation going in order to sustain.
11. Market Share- Googles last strength is market share. Comscore is a company
that specializes in technology monitoring. Google Sites led the U.S. explicit core
search market in August with 63.8 percent market share, followed by Microsoft
Sites with 20.6 percent (up 0.2 percentage points) and Yahoo Sites with 12.7
percent. Ask Network accounted for 1.8 percent of explicit core searches,
followed by AOL, Inc. with 1.2 percent. Google has had this lead in market share
for a long time now but Google Search isnt the only market that Google
dominates. 121.3 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones in 2011. And

Googles Andriod smartphone platform was on over half of those smartphones.


Google Android ranked as the top smartphone platform with 53.6 percent, while
Apples share increased 0.9 percentage points to 34.3 percent. RIM ranked third
with 7.8 percent share, followed by Microsoft (3.2 percent). This shows Googles
ability to be innovative and sustainable. Because so many people use Google, it
has become more than a household name. In fact, the word Google has even
become noun as people often say Ill just Google it. This is not only good for
Googles brand, but it also gives Google an edge for any new products or services
they wish to launch. Customer loyalty also plays a role because consumers using
Googles services are less likely to try other competitors since they may feel
comfortable using and understanding Googles products such as their search
engine or Android operating system.

Commerce- Google earns 99% of its revenues from advertising and the
remaining 1% comes from licensing of service. Google portfolio does not have
commerce feature.
Context- IT is very difficult to Google to capture context because Google having
one search box in its delightfully simple interface.
Content- There is one area where the Google is lagging behind yahoo. Google is
always known as a finder not as a producer.
Personalization or customization- The user can customize their page and they
can organize the Google page like in Orkut, Picasa, you tube etc. The user can go
to the other user account and see the profile. This is the criticism of the privacy.
Business model- Google Ad sense is under serious threat from vertical AD
network.
International Appeal- In North America and some parts of Europe, Google is
still the choice of search engine but venture to communist countries like Russia
and China and Google is the bottom choice of search engine. Googles main
weakness is the companys inability to have international control over the search
engine market. Google is constantly being sued by the Chinese because of the
different copyright laws China has. And with Chinas market booming it makes
Chinese search engine, Baidu, an international force to be reckoned with.
Facebook- Facebook is a social networking company that is booming today.
Millions of people sign on to Facebook everyday to connect to their friends
online. So why is Facebook one of the biggest weaknesses of Google?
Advertisements. Google is known to have Ads that are similar to what you
search. Facebook has that as well. Facebook has stolen much of the ads from
Google and put it on their site. Ads is how Google search makes money. If they
lose ads they lose a lot of money.
