The Word Proclaimed - Matthew 28:16-20 (NRSV)

Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed
them. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. And Jesus came
and said to them, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go
therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I
have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the
apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would
sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need.
Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at
home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the
goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who
were being saved.

Help VBS Fill Ark for Heifer - You can help the VBS children
in their efforts to make a difference in hunger throughout the
world. This year the children are collecting to fill an ark for
Heifer International ($5,000) and to adopt a row at Columbia
Center for Urban Agriculture ($1,500). This is a great way
to make a difference in hunger locally and globally if you
would like to help, please make your check payable to MUMC
and designate VBS Missions!

Seekers Class at 10am in room 302 - Classes from July
31 through Aug. 28 will be lead by Dr. Lois Huneycutt, MU
professor of history. She will be looking at Christian history
from the second century to the eve of the Protestant
Reformation through the eyes of four women recognized
as saints: Perpetua of Carthage, Leoba of England and
Germany, Hildegarde of Bingen, and Joan of Arc.
Cornerstone Coffee Shop will be closed on Aug. 7 and Donut
Sunday will be on Aug. 14.

Help Crop Stop Hunger! The annual Columbia CROP Hunger
Walk will be a family affair at Stephens Park, Sept. 25. It
will be a fund raiser to support local ministries and also the
worldwide development and disaster relief ministries of
Church World Service.
Mens Group Revival Trip - You are invited to join the
Wednesday Night Mens group on Wednesday, Aug. 3 for a
revival trip to Lake Creek Camp Meeting. We will be leaving
the church on the church bus at 5pm that day. The meeting
will start at 7:30pm, and the speaker is Jim Downing, Lead
Pastor at First UMC Sedalia. For more details, contact David
