Unit Content: Editing and mastering: track sequencing; track numbering; topping and tailing; track
markers; cross-fades; processing eg equalise, normalise, time stretch, phase; control of dynamics eg
compression, limiting
Task 1
As part of a production team, arrange a meeting to discuss the offer from Sony. Notes will need to
show how creative decisions were reached e.g. what determined the final running order. This
evidence could be in the form of a diary or may be recorded as video footage. Edit and master the
tracks effectively with teacher/technical support.
P4

Task 2
Edit and master the stereo tracks competently with only limited support. Include diagrams, track
sheets, screen shots showing how tracks were mastered. The CD must be submitted as a package
e.g. packaging and CD sleeve

Task 3
The final CD will be near professional standard and produced independently. The sleeve notes, CD
design, acknowledgements, photo images etc must be original and creatively convincing.
