Worry - give way to anxiety or unease; allow one's mind

to dwell on difficulty or troubles

(we have a choice, we don't have to give in) [a lot
of ppl communicate to us that we need to worry but
we decide if we do or don't]
-Worrying is when we give way to an earthy perspective instead of a heavenly
perspective.
-We become our own God when we worry (we focus too much on ourselves)
-We take things into our own hands and try to take control of it
-We say "what if this happens or doesn't happen" when most of the time we have no
control over it so there's no point in worrying about them
?-Why would we want to try to take control of something that we have no control of?
Matthew 14:29-31

29"Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat,

walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30But when
he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink,
cried out, "Lord, save me!"31Immediately Jesus reached
out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said,
"why did you doubt?"
-We have to keep our eyes on the prize (Jesus) and realize that life is a test that
requires sacrifice
-Embrace the wind

-We have to keep our eyes on the prize (Jesus) and realize that life is a test that
requires sacrifice

Matthew 16:24Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If

anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and
take up his cross and follow me.
-This doesn't mean we have to worry or deny the things God has given us
-Don't focus on yourself but on God
-When we worry we give in to pride

Pride - a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction

derived from one's own achievements
(We look at what we can do instead of what Jesus has
already done - "What can I achieve" instead of "What will
God achieve through me")
-the consciousness of one's own dignity.
-the quality of having an excessively high opinion of
oneself or one's importance.

-The world only offers pride and fear w/ a cherry on top b/c that's what Satan has
Matthew 6:25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about
your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body,
what you will wear. Is not life more important than
food, and the body more important than clothes?
-Our society has set it's vision on materialism, health care, insurance, and all this safety,
instead of true life.

Psalm 37:8Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do

not fret—it leads only to evil.
-Fretting leads only to evil

-It's just the enemy passing on what he already has to try to distract us.

-Worrying is like a current constantly trying to pull us back. We see that this is the way it
works and we go with the flow. Our society has a false security issue. Ppl worry about
little things b/c they don't know God.
-Society is afraid b/c they have a temporary earthly security, but we have a security that
cannot be shaken.
-Many Christians feel like they have to be the provider instead of Jehovah Jireh. All we
need to do is be good stewards and be responsible with what God has given us b/c
James 1:17 says:
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down
from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not
change like shifting shadows.
-The thing is: It's easy to think from our own perspective but we need to agree with a
heavenly perspective
-Worry creates doubt and instability and we start to forget who we really are in Christ
-Our minds can keep us in a state of worrying.
-It becomes easy to worry when we let our minds wander and think too much. Our
minds are flesh and are constantly corrupted by the world we need peace.
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends
all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds
in Christ Jesus.
-Aligning ourselves with God's peace transcends our minds. We just need to be under
God b/c he sees everything from a higher and perfect perspective.
-Our minds need to be washed and renewed daily in the Word. Romans
12:2
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will
is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Hebrews 13:6So we say with confidence, "The Lord is

my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to
me?"
