Optimistically, at the end of this course my objective is to learn all standards
that govern school leaders. Hopefully, Ill have opportunities to engage in activities that will allow me to meet and link all the standards to my learning experiences. Reflecting on prior years experiences, the first standards that come to mind is ISLLC Standard 2 that states that school leaders must advocate, nurture, and sustain a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth. [Subsection 10 knowledge of the role of technology in promoting student learning and professional growth.] I was given the task of creating a technology action plan to be incorporated into our school. The emphasis of the plan was to motivate teachers to incorporate the use of technology holistically to meet the needs of all students. The incorporation and effectiveness of the plan tie into standard 2 of the ISLLC standards. The focus of the plan was to provide equitable technology access to all students, to develop lifelong learners, integrate technology into the curriculum and transform technological education approach to improving student outcomes, and to build a culture of continuous learning for students and staff. Reflecting back on this experience, I am now aware of both the value and the limitations of said standards. These standards provide me as a future leader with a valuable framework for reform and assess my approach to incorporating technology into my classroom. ISLLC Standards 3 - sub-section 8, current technologies that support management functions. As a prospective school leader, I have recognized the magnitude of technology and the impact it will have on students lives. I must realize that we are
living in a digital age, where technology must be recognized, acknowledged, and
accepted by school leaders, teachers and the school community at large. It is my responsibility to implement, inspire and motivate teachers and staffs the effectiveness of these life-changing tools in the building, with a clear purpose of transforming teaching and learning from a 19th-century approach to teaching and learning into the information age. Based on the video Did you know 2014 It is clear that school leaders, must recognize the importance of technology in their schools. School leaders must recognize that technology has been changing at a rapid rate and that it will transform the way teachers teach and learn in this global society. The technological age has become very competitive and fast moving as a prospective school leader I will be tasked to keep up with this rapid growth/changes and I must model to my staff with enthusiastic drive a vision of digital learning to keep up with the change of time. Far too many have not, and thus not being able to compete. As a school leader, my shared vision must incorporate access to technology in order to fulfill that vision. With my experience as a technology teacher, I have recognized that many students are born into, and are comfortable with technology and they are responsible for the changes. They are raised with technology and are comfortable incorporating it into their lives. My aim as a school leader is to embrace technology in order to improve student learning. We must transform our approach to technology first; we have to become computer literate in order to prepare students of the digital age to become a learner in the digital age. By keeping up with the changes, we will ensure that all students learn and have access to information both inside and outside of the classroom, 24 -7. The
transformation has to start with school leaders, teachers, and the school community before we can transform schools.
