This town owes its foundation to the Fathers of the Society of Jesus, who
administered it until 1768, at which time spent at our expense, then consisting of 310
tributes with 985 souls and having being assigned by the first Franciscan priest Fr.
Miguel Rico.

It is located 11 41 '45' latitude, in a small plain between two rivers on the


islands western coast and north of a very shallow cove. The north and east are
borders with the mountains of the center of the island; by southeast with the people of
Calbiga, with a distant about five leagues and west is Jiabong with that of a league.
Its climate is hot and poorly ventilated. They are supplied with well water with
poor quality. It has two bad dirt roads toward the villages of Jiabong and Calbiga,
although generally communicate with the first water. Mail is received from the
cabecera of that of Catbalogan in indeterminate days.
The Church under the invocation of the Holy Apostles Sts. Peter and Paul. The
Church is made of stone, built by the Jesuit Fathers, which was burned later. In 1835 it
was burned for the second time; however it was rebuilt again by Fr. Leon Tembleque,
who at the same time built the rectory table. There is a court table and a primary
school with letters and boxes provided by the Community. It is annexed to this people
a visita called Loquilocon, with a distant of three leagues northeast and next to a river
that runs leading to the east coast of the island by the people of Paric and it is
navigable for ships and for small ports. In the field of this visita although there is coal
of inferior quality. It is this people served by Fr. Fernando Martinez, a 25 years old
preacher.

The land of this town has no limits set by the part of the north and east, where it
reveal dilated by mountains and plains inhabited with many good lumber and
cabinetry, vines, diversity of palms, edible grasses, wax, pitch, all kinds of hunting
and many roots crops. Its shores abound of good fish, sardine specialty, but its port is
very dirty and shallow, so it can only anchor by smaller boats and is well protected
from the winds from north and east. The land is cultivated and produces enough rice,
some abaca, yams and Palauan. Its occupation are dedicated to agriculture, benefit

abaca, hunting and fishing, whose products, with the remaining rice, lead to market
Catbalogan and other towns.
Be village is situated on the coast Oestede Samar. Bounded on the East with
him Calbiga, at a distance of about six hours by sea 'and river; and on the west by:
Hiabng, an hour away by sea.
