Set up and align a two-sided, folded document
Create an original, new logo and use it in a
brochure. Incorporate quality images. Incorporate at
least four quality images, not including the logo.
One should be clipped in Photoshop and textwrapped in InDesign so the text follows the cutout
shape of the image.Write at least 250 words of
original copy in at least three paragraphs, headers,
and subheaders.Trim for a full bleed and print in
duplex (two-sided) color.
I set up the offset brochure in Adobe InDesign.
I split my front and back page into two sections
and my inside page into three sections so the far
righthand side would show on the front when folded.
I chose four images that represented the life of
india and the culture rich country it is. I chose to
use warm bright colors that reflect the land of the
country. I cut out an image for the inside of the
brochure and used a text wrap around the image. I
used the selection tool in and feathered the image
so it will blend better when I past it into the new
document. I used the line spacing paragraph style
for the body and title copy.

Create a new logo to fit a company or personal
image. Dont use photos or live trace. Letterhead
should be 8.5 x 11, Apply typography rules,
keeping small copy. Keep designs simple with light
watermarks and drop shadows and plenty of white
space. Include contact information: name, address,
phone, website, and email on each piece. Use
periods, bullets, or spaces in phone number; no
parentheses/ hyphens.
I started my project in Adobe Illustrator and
designed the business card and logo. I used simple
shapes, color and type for the design. When the
design was done I opened a new Adobe InDesign
file and placed my Illustrator file in it.
I created a matching letterhead in InDesign. I
placed all of the necessary information at the top
of the page along with the logo. I then created a
watermark at the bottom of the page and reduced
the opacity of the colors to 14%.

Apply typography rules, keeping small copy.
Keep designs simple with light watermarks
and drop shadows and plenty of white space.
Include contact information: name, address,
phone, website, and email on each piece. Use
periods, bullets, or spaces in phone number; no

I started my project in Adobe Illustrator and
designed the business card and logo. I used
simple shapes, color and type for the design.
When the design was done I opened a new
Adobe InDesign file and placed my Illustrator file
in it. I placed my Illustrator file on a separate
art board in InDesign. I then created a separate
InDesign file and I placed my business card
design in it and expanded the design so you
can see the details of the card.

Learn to blend two or more images together
gradually, using masks. Demonstrate more advanced
Photoshop skills for layout with multiple elements.
Use a mask to apply a filter to one part of the
image. Apply typography principles (titles, quotes,
events or scripturesyour choice). Format type:
Legibility; Small copy & Title with varying text size.
I chose two images. I used Adobe Photoshop
to layer the two images on top of each other. I
used a filter to bring the image behind out so the
two would become one image. Then I used the
blur tool to lighten part of the sky. I put a blue
rectangle on top of the image and used a filter on
the rectangle to give a blue tint to the image. I
then laid text on top on the image and stylized it
to emphasize two words. I placed a bounding box
with a white stroke around the text to add more
gestalt to the design. I chose two different type
faces.

Create three completely different, original logos to
fit a company or personal image that will appeal
to the audience. Do not imitate existing logos or
use previous designs. Use Illustrator tools to create
and draw your logos. (No Illustrator pre-fabricated
flares, symbols, etc.. No photos or live-tracing. You
may use an image or drawing as a guide to trace
it with the pen/pencil, but delete the image before
submitting.)Refine one logo with variations for color.
I started off by creating a word list describing
several different parts of the organization I was
design the logo for. I also did some research
on the company. I got inspiration from similar
organizations logos and saw what has already
been created. I then took my 5 best designs and
created them in Illustrator. After they were done I
was able to have others look at them and critique
them to make them better. I then took the criticism
and made adjustments to my final logo design. I
made three different versions, one in full color, one
in a gray-scale, and one in white on a colored
background. The last one on a colored background
instead of used pure white I took down the opacity
and made it more transparent so some of the
orange would show through.

(with li tags), img, br, and a link to blog). Acquire
a working knowledge of CSS.(Customize the provided
CSS provided to format the HTML to complement the

Photoshop color picker.
I learned the basics of HTML and CSS. I edited
the HTML so I had the content that I wanted that
described the reasoning why I chose to redesign

Learn basic photography skills. Choose a color
scheme, take a photo to match those colors, then
incorporate the colors into the layout. Use a digital
camera to take a quality image, then download
it. Adjust image levels, saturation, color balance,
sharpen tool on separate layers for NDE (nondestructive editing.)Size and crop the image, then
place on an 8.511 page layout. Use layers to
design text, and repeating graphic elements in
Photoshop.
I went on a photo shoot and took different styles
of photos and I ended up with this photo showing
depth of field. I then took the photo and edited it in
photo shop. I brightened the image, added yellow to
the overall color of the photo, sharpened the image,
and increased the vibrance of the image. I added a
color scheme section with color swatches with labels.
I decided to go with a monochromatic color scheme
to highlight the flowers. I chose two different fonts
to compliment each other and to add variety.

Apply the design principles and use appropriate
typography. Incorporate basic InDesign skills to
improve basic flier layout. Retrieve image and logo
from links on this page. Create a project folder with
image, logo and InDesign document to keep links in
InDesign intact.
I started my process by making sketches of different
possible designs. I then used my sketches as a
guide to create a draft using the program Adobe
InDesign. I used black and white lines to create
contrast as well as leading lines. I emphasized one
word to create a focal point. I was given the image,
logo, content for the flier.

Comprehend image sizing (how pixels and inches
work together). Find, scan and import a high-quality
image. Create a full-bleed design. Choose a color
scheme and typeface(s) that work for your message
and audience. Learn to use only Word design
features without using any Adobe programs, including
Photoshop.
I scanned in my image and used Microsoft Word
to create the layout for my design. I made a draft
and went through 2 critique processes. I then made
changes to my flier based on the critiques I received.
I chose two different fonts, a san sarif and a sarif
to give contrast with the text. I expanded the image
to fill the whole page and laid the text on top of the
image. To make certain parts easier to read I put a
transparent box behind them and I made the boxes
red to continue my color theme of contrasting colors.

Want to
Cook like

Rachel Ray will be teaching us how to
