Procedure to collect logs from VMWARE ESX


ESXi 5.1 and older

Log into vCenter Server as admin using vSphere Client


Go to upper left corner, and select File
Select Export
Select Export System Logs
Select all affected hosts. NOTE: Do not select the Performance checkbox unless instructed by GSC. WARNING: If you have many VMs on a host, or
many ESXi hosts, selecting all for data collection may trigger DRS vMotion of hosts due to resources consumed by the data collection activity! Select
no more than 5 at a time for safety.
6. Upload resulting *.tgz files to https://tuf.hds.com using the case number assigned to you.

ESXi 5.5 and newer

VMware has stated that Thick client is going away and going forward all the improvements and developments will go into the web-client. If still using the Thick
client, please use following steps to collect export logs:
